Radiation From Japan - Should You Be Worried?

Since the nuclear reactor disaster in Japan, countless citizen have been taking iodine supplements. Many have just been stockpiling against inherent need, but a gargantuan amount have been taking mega-dose iodine prophylactically. Unfortunately, by taking iodide at the wrong time guarantees it won't work if it indubitably is needed. Furthermore, 8-10% of the citizen has latent thyroid problems manufacture them prone to serious side effects from iodide pills.

Adults over 40 are most at risk for iodine side effects and have no clear advantage from using preventive iodine. Many are taking it daily creating no inherent advantage yet risk for gargantuan side effects together with stroke and heart attack.

Nuclear Reactor

Your thyroid gland depends on iodine to work properly. Since it aggressively concentrates iodine, it is at risk to concentrated radioactive iodine in the event of nuclear fallout. History has shown that those exposed to low levels of radiation faced much higher rates of eventual thyroid cancer.

Since thyroid cancer takes decades to form, this risk is highest in neonates, infants, children and adolescents, in that order.

Adults under 40 have very minimal risk of thyroid cancer secondary to radiation exposure, yet their risk from iodine per protocol is also low. Adults over 40 face much more risk of iodine side effects than they do advantage even with significant, local exposure.

The rational of iodine loading supplements is that when the thyroid gland is completely full of iodine, it quits spirited it for a period of time, manufacture it less vulnerable to store radioactive iodine.

Potassium iodide, which supplies 65% iodine, can protect against radioactive iodine, but not other radioactive elements, for a 24 hour window.

When needed, iodine is best given in a singular dose, ideally 4-24 hours prior to exposure. Following is dosing per the post Chernobyl World health organization Protocol:

Age group singular dose of iodine (mg) Fraction of 100 mg tablet
12-39 100 1
3-12 50 1/2
1 month - 3 years 25 1/4
Birth - 1 month 12.5 1/8

People should not take iodine if they have:
History of thyroid disease
Active thyroid antibodies
History of iodine allergy
Dermatitis herpetiformis

The complicating factor is that many without a known history of thyroid disease do have active thyroid antibodies.

To sound good health, take a multivitamin with 50-100 mcg of iodine and use iodized salt at home. Any iodine taken above this will not improve your health and will only risk complications.

December 21, 2012 - 7 Prophecies of Doom

1. Aged Mayans The Aged Mayans were obsessed with time, and their calendar was in some ways more definite than our current calendar. The Mayan calendar is able to predict eclipses thousands of years in advance. It also turned out to be prophetic, as it thinkable, in the 8th century Bc that "white skinned bearded gods would arrive from over the sea on March 5, 1519", the exact day that Cortez and his Conquistadors arrive in the new world. The Earth and the Sun come into exact alignment with the center of the milky way galaxy on December 21, 2012. The Mayans reference a "Dark Mother" / Black Hole, at the center of the galaxy. (Which science has recently shown to have credence). This alignment only occurs 1 time every 25,800 years.

2. Cumaen Sybel lived in Aged Rome around the 6th century Bc. She was highly regarded by Roman authorities. Her scrolls were housed in the temple of Jupiter and were some of the most prominent religious documents of their time. She predicts the world will last for 9 periods of 800 years, and that the 10th generation will begin around 2000 Ad, and that it will be the last generation. She accurately thinkable, the invasion of Hannibal 700 years before his arrival, and his defeat. She also thinkable, Emperor Constantine by name 800 years before his birth. It is also believed that she may have thinkable, Christ 20 years prior to his birth.

Nuclear Reactor

3. I Ching The I Ching The I Ching (Wade-Giles), or "Yì J+ng" (Pinyin); also called "Book of Changes" or "Classic of Changes" is one of the oldest of the Chinese first-rate Texts The book is a stamp ideas used to identify order in occasion events. The text describes an Aged ideas of cosmology and philosophy that is intrinsic to Aged Chinese cultural beliefs. Wiki says..

One of McKenna's ideas is known as Novelty Theory. It predicts the ebb and flow of novelty in the universe as an possible capability of time. McKenna industrialized the ideas in the mid-1970s after his experiences in the Amazon at La Chorrera led him to intimately study the King Wen sequence of the I-Ching. Novelty ideas involves ontology, extropy, and eschatology. The ideas proposes that the universe is an engine designed for the output and conservation of novelty. Novelty, in this context, can be idea of as newness, or extropy (a term coined by Max More meaning the opposite of entropy). Agreeing to McKenna, when novelty is graphed over time, a fractal waveform known as "timewave zero" or naturally the "timewave" results.

The graph shows at what time periods, but never at what locations, novelty increases or decreases.

Considered by some to narrate a model of history's most prominent events, the universal algorithm has also been extrapolated to be a model for future events. McKenna admitted to the prospect of a "singularity of novelty", and that he and his colleagues projected many hundreds of years into the future to find when this singularity (runaway "newness" or extropy) could occur. Millenarians give more credence to Novelty ideas as a way to predict the future (especially regarding 2012) than McKenna himself. The graph of extropy had many gargantuan fluctuations over the last 25,000 years, but amazingly, it hit an asymptote at exactly December 21, 2012.[18] In other words, entropy (or habituation) no longer exists after that date.

So, the King Wen sequence shows that the time line ends on exactly December 21, 2012. The same day the Mayan Calendar ends.

4. Merlin (Merlin The Wild) Myrddin Wyllt Merlin, a 6th century British prophet, also foretells the end of the world. He thinkable, the first American colony by name. He thinkable, the British victory at Waterloo, the Nazi holocaust, and some of his farther reaching predictions may attack true in your thoughts, like this one "At that time shall a man, standing on the shore of England, speak at once to a man in France straight through a speaking stone." He also predicts that the sea will discharge into the river (i don't know the spelling of that river) and that fish will grow manifold tales because of this. There happens to be a modern day nuclear reactor right next to that river.

5. Mom Shipton Though her prophecies may have been fabricated in the 1800's, I find it intelligent that one of them reads something like "When pictures look alive, and ships swim like fish.. And men soar in the sky like birds, then half the world deep drenched in blood shall die".

6. John Of Patmos The book of Revelation has some chilling words of prophecy that most are customary with. Including flood, famine, earthquakes, etc. Which also coincide with many of the other prophecies we have discussed.

7. The Web Bot task This was referenced on the History Channel, and I can not seem to find any solid data about it via the internet. It was said on the H channel that the web bot technology was created as a predictive model for the stock market, and at some point it began to predict future world events as well. The web bot is said to predict puny nuclear war and world disasters around 2008-2009 prominent up to devastating world events in 2012.

What could happen? It is now believed that a polar shift has happened in the past, and could happen again in the future. This shift would cause all of the same types of disasters that I have discussed in these prophecies. This would complicated the magnetic poles of the Earth..well..shifting, and if this happened speedily (over days or hours) it could be devastating.

Boycott Citgo & Venezuelan Oil

I would like to praise 7eleven for not renewing there covenant with Citgo as there lone gas supplier. Although this might not put a major dent in the pockets of Mr. Chavez or end the arrogance that comes along with high oil prices, I must say that this without request put a huge smile on my face along with I'm sure many others. It was also a welcome sign to see democrats put aside partisan bickering and defend the president from the ugly comments that were made at the U.N. By "El presidente". I don't believe Chavez and his cronies were expecting such a major backlash from our leaders especially those on the other side of the aisle. I myself just ordered a few bumper stickers with the words "boycott citgo" on them. I'm ready to continue my boycott until chavez ends his hostile attitude towards the United States and Israel.

I just wish that the U.S. Was oil dependent and did not have to purchase oil from the likes of Chavez. What bothers me most is that they both come to the united nations and show no respect for our country and our president. The United Nations is a place to unite not to divide. I want world peace just like every person else does, but with leaders that with ego problems we probably wont see world peace in our lifetime.

Nuclear Weapons

I myself would one day like to see Iraq , maybe even tour to cuba or maybe even Afghanistan, but with so much instability in the world today, that seems to hazardous to even dream about. Then you have someone like Kim Jong il. A leader who starves his people.Who wants to manufacture nuclear weapons so he can scare his neighbors like Japan and South Korea.I unmistakably do not understand why sure countries want to manufacture nuclear weapons. The United states alone can wipe out the world in probably twenty minutes.

I hope one day we can envision a world without the United Nations.Maybe we can take a trip to any place in this world and not have to worry.Maybe one day there will be world peace, but till then we can dream and pray, and one day there will be world peace.

Cooling Towers Beyond Power Plants

Thinking about cooling towers typically elicits visions of the giant smokestacks gift at nuclear power plants. These giant structures can be up to twenty stories high and are no ifs ands or buts the most identifiable forms of cooling towers. However, in practice, cooling towers is a term that no ifs ands or buts refers to a much broader range of equipment. They operate over a wide range of industries (not just power production) and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

In order for towers to effectively cool equipment, they must utilize elements of nature - those of physical laws. This tool operates through a mixture of conduction and convection. Conduction is the process through which heat moves from warmer to colder areas. When one opens the door from a warm house on a cold winter's day, they are not letting cold air in, but rather warm air out. Convection is the process through which heat is circulated in a controlled (or uncontrolled) manner by continually having higher temperatures replace colder ones. Both of these aspects of physics are used extensively for cooling towers to operate.

Nuclear Power

In practice, these machines naturally serve to transfer heat from one area (typically in the output process) to other (say the atmosphere). One coarse recipe for these devices is to use water to cool the area, which will evaporate and turn into steam, thus traveling as a gas out of the tower. If the steam is transferred to a safe area in the atmosphere, it will disperse and reach normal climatic characteristic levels ceasing to be dangerous. Water typically serves as a much quicker cooling mechanism than air or other coarse liquids. Overall, the functionality of cooling towers is quite comparable to that of a coarse automotive radiator. When a radiator begins to overheat, a coarse solution is to add water to it - this is the same notion process for cooling towers.

Cooling towers need not be stories high or even meters wide. In fact, most forms of commercial air conditioners use a cooling tower in some shape or form. Most Hvac (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) professionals are very customary with these types of units. While it practically feels like a expert baseball team could convention in some of the biggest devices, the most coarse forms are sized in any place from that of a coffee table to that of a living room. Function is pretty suitable over board, with the size of the unit carefully more by the volume and climatic characteristic of the heat that needs to be removed or transferred.

There are three distinct ways that most cooling towers operate to transfer heat. The type of devices that use methods described above would be carefully wet cooling towers. Fluid is used to cool the expedient (liquids transfer heat more no ifs ands or buts that solids, but enunciate it - allowing it to be steered - best than solids) and then evaporates outward in a preset manner. Dry structures are the simplest recipe for cooling and transfer the heat directly to the exit point through pipes or tubes. Fluid coolers are the most complicated, using a mixture of both other methods.

No matter the method, these devices are a necessity for any output industry. Wherever heat is necessary, there is also the need to effectively and safely cool it.

What is the Filibuster-Breaking Nuclear Option?

What is the so-called "nuclear option" that Senator Bill Frist may deploy soon in a precedent-setting attempt to break a potential filibuster? It sounds ominous, but what is it all about, really?

President Bush has the opportunity to nominate and fill numerous federal judicial positions this year. at last he will have the opportunity to nominate one or more consummate Court jusices as well. However, this issue isn't about the potential consummate Court nominations yet, but finally it will be.

Nuclear Reactor

The Democrats in the Senate plan to use the filibuster to prevent the Senate from voting on the federal judicial nominees that the Democrats see as objectionable. A easy majority of 51 Senators is needed to confirm the nominees. However, once a filibuster has begun, 60 votes are then required to invoke cloture, ending the filibuster, and forcing a vote. There are 55 Republicans in the current Senate, adequate votes to confirm President Bush's federal judicial nominees, but not adequate to break a nomination-ending filibuster without bipartisan cooperation.

The Republicans claim that requiring 60 votes to effectively confirm a nomination is unconstitutional. The Constitution is imprecise on this point. The Constitution only asks the Congress to "advise and consent" about judicial nominees, which implies that only a easy majority vote is needed. The Democrats claim that the filibuster is not unconstitutional and has been used often in the past by the minority party, both Republican and Democratic, and that rules governing its usage should be left intact.

Republican Senator Bill Frist has proposed the "nuclear option," which would set a precedent and effectively convert the rules. Currently, Senate Rule Xxii stipulates that invoking cloture requires a supporting vote of 60%, and it supplementary stipulates that to convert the rule requires a supporting vote of 67%.

Here's one potential scenario about how Senator Frist might trigger the "nuclear option."

1. A controversial judicial nomination goes to the Senate floor for consideration.

2. Senate Democrats begin a filibuster to prevent a confirmation vote.

3. Senator Frist raises a Point of Order. He contends that supplementary debate would be dilatory and that a vote must be taken within a specific period of time.

4. Vice President Cheney, the presiding officer, sustains the Point of Order.

5. A Democratic Senator appeals the ruling.

6. A Republican Senator moves to table the appeal, which would effectively eliminate the appeal.

7. The Senate votes on the motion to table the appeal. This is a procedural issue and cannot be filibustered. Only 51 votes are needed to pass the motion to table the appeal.

8. If only 50 Senators vote to table the appeal, Vice President Cheney can cast the tie-breaking vote. 51 votes would maintain the ruling, thus requiring the filibuster to end within a specified time frame.

This is thought about a "nuclear option" because it circumvents Senate Rule Xxii which governs cloture. It also would cause supplementary group among Republicans and Democrats, development bipartisan cooperation in the time to come more difficult. The selection would also be a tactic that would be used against the Republicans in the time to come when they are the minority party and a Democratic President nominates federal judges.

Did the Us Cause the Current Islamic Regime in Iran?

They are carefully one of the "axis of evil". There has been growing talk of potential troops operations in the country because of their attempts to build nuclear weapons. However, did the U.S. Government cause their rise to power? Perhaps, we need to look back with a more vital eye towards our history.

In the early 1950's, the new democratically elected Iranian Prime Minister, Mohammad Mosaddegh, tried to nationalize the countries oil and take power away from British and U.S. Interests in the nation. The U.S. And British governments responded through the the Cia to overthrow the newly elected minister. They wanted to continue to keep sway in the region, and more importantly they wanted to keep their economic interests flowing. They were prosperous and installed their own "ambassador" as leader, the Shah. The Shah was an authoritarian monarch who while supporting foreign interests did little to maintain the liberties and the needs of his people.

Nuclear Weapons

By 1979, the rule of Shah was no longer thorough to the Iranian people. Two groups were threatening a revolution-the Socialist party and Ultra-Conservative Islamic movement which wanted to set up a theocracy. As we know today, the Ultra-Conservative Islamic movement was able to overthrow the Shah and set up their own oppressive government. Since 1979, Iran and the United States have been at odds (except for Reagan's shameful Iran-Contra Scandal where the U.S. Helped maintain the Contras in Nicaragua with part of the money paid for by the selling of arms to an Iranian group). There was a similar trend throughout the Middle East. Many very conservative Islamic governments rose as dissimilar nation's autonomy and self rule were undermined by foreign troops (both Western and Soviet).

Some may question the reasons for talking about this now. The past is the past. However, there are some important lessons that we need to learn for today. The first is that misguided actions can have impacts that are not seen until years later. When Eisenhower supported the overthrow of the Iranian leader, he probably never conception that of the current scenario we have today. The same could be true of past U.S. maintain of figures such as Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden in the late 70's and 80's. Obviously, this backfired greatly. The same can be seen in Latin America where much of the fiercely anti-U.S. Leftist movement can find its roots back in the U.S.'s unjust actions in the region.

More importantly, perhaps this can help us perceive about our current actions today. What we do for our own short-term benefit at the price of other population and nations will have effects that could haunt us 100 years later. We have to get past reasoning of the short term (how can we get Saddam Hussein out of power, how can the drug war be extensive in South and Central America) and perceive what the long terms and destabilizing factors that can occur as a succeed of our foreign policy.

On a personal level, this is also vital. Do we only live in light of our current circumstances or do we think how are actions are going to sway our time to come and the time to come of those around us? It is easy to only think in the here and now and for our wants and needs. However, perhaps we could learn to be enlightened enough to live our lives with our children's time to come in mind, and not do the easy and greedy thing at the price of doing what is right and just.

Nuclear Will Never Be the clarification

Early on man realized that fossil fuels would soon run out, and so nuclear power was born.  It was glorified as the cleaner alternative to oil and coal power stations, promising lower emissions and environmental safety.  But has it indeed lived up to our expectations? And is it the ideal vigor explication for the future? We think not.

Although nuclear power is effective and responsible for about 25% of the world's electricity production, it is flawed in many respects:

Nuclear Weapons

Nuclear power cannot solve global warming:

Once seen as the explication to global atmosphere change, nuclear power is far from it. In any place along the nuclear chain - from the mining of uranium to its transportation to the construction of the power plant - greenhouse gases are emitted.

Furthermore, their construction takes too long to solve global warming. In fact, investing in nuclear power deprives other efforts - such as vigor efficiency, conservation and renewable vigor - of added funding and development.

Nuclear plants issue radiation:

The levels of radiation released in the air, water and soil are thought about "safe".  However, this accepted is based on how it impacts healthy, white males and does not take consideration for children that are sensitive to cancer-causing radiation.

They originate harmful radioactive waste:

From mining to milling, processing to enrichment, fuel fabrication to fuel irradiation in reactors, large amounts of harmful, long-lasting radioactive waste is produced. In increasing to 20-30 tons of high-level radioactive waste per reactor per year, this includes so-called "low" level radioactive waste.

The current explication for the "disposal" or "storage" of this waste is unacceptable. There is no scientifically safe place to dump this waste, and new reactors would exacerbate the problem. added "low" level radioactive waste would have to be dumped in landfills or incinerated, polluting the water and air.

Nuclear plants are too costly:

At to billion each, nuclear reactors are not a cheap solution. Nuclear power has already been subsidized hundreds of billions of dollars. Why should we, the taxpayers, subsidize the electric utility companies' investments any longer?

Development of nuclear technology brings war and terrorism:

This has been seen at the September 2007 bombing of Syria's suspected nuclear site by Israel, and the controversy over Iran's nuclear program. Reactors will always set the stage for atomic weapons production. So, as long as power plants exist, there will always be tension over the possibility of a nuclear attack. Furthermore, reactors are soft targets for terrorists to get hold of nuclear materials, so the more reactors built, the greater the risk.

Any accident will be catastrophic:

All nuclear plants are vulnerable to accidents or attacks. Nevertheless, if an accident did occur, the current evacuation plans are completely unrealistic. In addition, the Price-Anderson Act ensures the utility's liability of an accident is miniature to only .8 billion. This is absurd, considering a serious reactor accident could cause as much as 0 billion of damage. Once again, the equilibrium would likely have to be paid by us, the taxpayers.

There are good alternatives:

What bothers us most is we already have better, cleaner, safer and economy alternatives available and ready to implement. Maybe with the up-to-date choice of our new Us government, nuclear vigor will be put to rest and renewable vigor will be harnessed on a larger scale.

But while we wait, it is potential to start harnessing renewable vigor at home.  What's more is, it does not cost very much and is rather easy to implement.  discrete solar and wind power guides have already become available, which you can see in our reviews section.

Nuclear Will Never Be the clarification

Why the Cost of Electricity is Astronomically High in Some Countries

The prices of most things tend to be comparable all over the world. There are, of course, the small differences occasioned by the differences in the factors of production in the middle of the distinct countries. But the allinclusive figures tend to be comparable - so that the price of a pound of sugar in the United States could be twice as high as the price of the same pound of sugar in some Asian country. The unlikeness here is titanic (100%), but the two prices are still comparable. As it turns out, though, there are some products where you can have what can only be termed as titanic price differences. Electricity happens to be one such goods (where what we are talking about is the mains electricity, drawn from the national grid). Here, we have a situation where a kilowatt-hour of electricity can cost ten times as much in one country, when compared to what it costs in someone else country. This is a 1,000% price unlikeness - and titanic is the only term that can competently chronicle it.

All that brings us to the demand as to why the cost of electricity can be astronomically high in some countries, compared to what it costs in others.
And as it turns out, when electricity costs are astronomically high, a amount of factors tend to be at play.

Nuclear Reactor

The countries that have high costs of electricity tend to be nations that rely on inefficient methods for producing electricity. Some methods for producing electricity are more effective (at least from a costing point of view) than others. You can't even start comparing the cost of producing electricity using diesel-powered generators to the cost of producing electricity from a nuclear reactor. True, it is costly to set up the nuclear reactor, but one it is up and running, the cost of production tends to be practically negligible. Hydro-electric power production is even cheaper to set up, and cheaper to keep running, in case, granted there is a good flow of water. The tragedy here is that there are some countries that are in a situation where they have to depend on diesel powered generators for their national grids. Consequently, it comes as no surprise when the cost of electricity in such countries turns out to be ten times as high as the cost of electricity in the countries thoroughly using nuclear or hydro-electric systems.

Often, deeper political reasons are to be found, behind the astronomically high costs of electricity in some countries. We are finding at the situations where high level corruption leads to embezzlement of the funds that would have gone to the amelioration of permissible electricity production systems. The end ensue is a situation where a nation has to depend on a power production law that is cheaper to set up but precious to keep running - like the diesel-powered system.

Sometimes, there are vested economic interests behind the high cost of electricity. It could be a situation where a country is able to yield power for its national grid cheaply, but where some 'big shots' insist on holding it expensive; with the extra money going to line their pockets.

Sometimes, we have genuine national poverty prominent to the high costs of electricity. This is the situation in some countries that are simply too poor to set up their own power generating capacities. So they are forced to import power, and they end up being fleeced in the process - by the countries that export electricity to them.

Why the Cost of Electricity is Astronomically High in Some Countries

euronews hi-tech - Radiation-surviving organism yields its secrets Tube. Duration : 4.43 Mins.

The "world's toughest bacterium" seems to have superpowers that can survive even the deadly gamma radiation that comes from a nuclear explosion. An international group of scientists has published the results of a long study of a soil microorganism that can stand about a thousand times more Gamma rays than a human. Hi-tech spoke to Macromolecular Crystallographer Joanna Timmins: "One of the main focuses of the work in our group is the study of this bacteria called Deinoccocus radiodurans, which is extremely radiation resistant, and so we're trying to understand a little bit more how it has developed such properties, since nowhere on Earth are there such high doses of radiation that it can actually withstand." Was the radioresistant bacterium brought to Earth from Mars, as one theory suggests, or were its mechanisms developed on Earth as a side effect of drought or other distress? Its defense works on the molecular level. To see how this incredible jump between the worlds of physics and natural science works a traditional microscope will not do. Scientists use the European synchrotron, located in Grenoble, France, to discover the atomic structure of the bacterium's protein defense system. Synchrotrons produce thin beams of X-ray light using the energy emitted by electrons accelerated in a vacuum inside a circular magnetic field. The powerful X-ray beams are then "tailored" so their wavelengths can have the desired experimental characteristics, and the molecule hunt can ...

F-16 Fighting Falcon - A Paper Airplane Can Be Your collection

Have you ever wonder which fighter planes are mostly used in war against Iraq?

In "Desert Storm' execution as well as the up-to-date Iraq attack, many F-16s were used so much that it is called the 'workhorse of the Us Air Force"

Nuclear Reactor

Prototyped in 1965 as the Yf-16, the F-16 Fighting Falcon is an American multirole jet fighter aircraft originally industrialized by normal Dynamics for the United States Air Force. A lightweight fighter, it evolved into a thriving multirole aircraft, thriving on the export market and serving 24 countries. It is nicknamed the "Viper", after the Battlestar Galactica starfighter.

F-16 models are denoted by sequential block numbers to denote requisite upgrades. The blocks cover both single- and two-seat versions. A collection of software, hardware, systems, weapons carriage, and structural enhancements have been instituted over the years to moderately upgrade the F-16 and retroactively implement the upgrades in previously delivered aircraft.

F-16 have been widely used throughout the past few decades and are still used extensively today.

On 7 June 1981, eight Israeli F-16s, escorted by F-15s, executed execution Opera, their first employment in a requisite air-to-ground operation. This raid severely damaged Osiraq, an Iraqi nuclear reactor under building near Baghdad, to forestall the regime of Saddam Hussein from using the reactor for the creation of nuclear weapons.

In the first week of June 2008, more than 100 Israeli F-16s and F-15s were engaged in maneuvers over the eastern Mediterranean and Greece. The aircraft reportedly flew more than 900 mi (1,450 km), practically the distance from Israel to Iran's Natanz nuclear enrichment facility, and the rehearsal included refueling tankers and helicopters capable of rescuing downed pilots. Russia's foreign minister Sergey Lavrov cautioned Israel against using soldiery force against Iran.

Dogfighting armament includes Aim-7 Sparrow, Aim-9 Sidewinder, Iris-T, Aim-120 Amraam anti-air missiles, as well as the staple M61 Vulcan gatling gun. Ground strikes are carried out with payloads together with Agm-65 Mavericks, Paveway-series laser-guided bombs and the B61 nuclear bomb.

The only real F-16s that I have seen are during air shows where pilots do acrobatic maneuvers and my son will scream with flight as the combined decibels of the F-16s reached deafening levels.

With pictures I took from this air displays (I must add it is difficult to capture these photos), I will sit down and toy with some papers to make an F-16 paper airplane. Some look mediocre while others look quite real.

In fact, recently, my neighbour, John and I sat down and experiment to make the F-16 and it turns out to be another of our origami creations. I proudly display this new creation right on top of my computer.

Atomic Power and Its Impact

It was America which tested the atom bomb in the deserts of Mexico, but Otto Habur, a German scientist was the first to corollary in making the atom bomb by splitting the atom. For this he got the Nobel Prize for 1944 - 45. Later on, America dropped two atom bombs on Japan to bring the World War Ii to an end. The first was dropped on Hiroshima and the second on Nagasaki on 6th and 9th August 1945, respectively. Both the cities were ruined. America came out as the mightiest country of the world.

Now the atom bomb is the thing of the past. Hydrogen bomb which is made by fusion of hydrogen atom into helium is many times more noteworthy than the atom bomb. And in this series most destructive (powerful) is the neutron bomb.

Nuclear Weapons

Today, the world is sitting on a volcano. The fear of use of the bomb in war has started a mad race among all the nations, especially those who are rich, can spend huge estimate on nuclear weapons. Dr. Einstein, the world noted scientist once said that the fourth war, at all it breaks out, will be fought with bricks and stones, because a third world war will bring all in the world to ashes. Therefore, it is a challenge to mankind. Either man should put an end to war or war will end him.

The connection of atomic power with destruction has all along raised the ask Either atomic energy should be industrialized at all. After the incidents of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, man has begun looking on atomic power with horror and suspicion.

His horror is positively well founded. The superpowers like America, Russia, Germany, France, China etc. Have stockpiled deadly atomic weapons in their arsenals. There is tension and suspicion, distrust and fear of each other. If a war starts in the middle of the nuclear powers, atomic or nuclear weapons may positively be used and then mankind will search for a destruction of all the fruits of civilization and culture, all gorgeous things which science has given for our comforts, well being, pleasures will be wiped out of existence. Instead of bustling of life there will be deadly silence of death. All those who love life, its beauty and goodness would like the atomic power to be brought to an end.

India has all the time opposed the use of atomic energy for the destruction of mankind. Though on May 18, 1974 history was made at Pokhran by exploding the first nuclear device. Then after a gap of 25 years, on May 11 and 13, 1999, India again tested successfully its nuclear power. This has led Pakistan also to test its nuclear power. It also successfully launched in May itself, though both are committed to the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes only.

Atomic power harnessed for peaceful purposes can bring enormous benefits to humanity. It can solve the energy problem. Nuclear power can be used for canal excavation, natural gas stimulation, underground mining, oil and extinguishing gas fires. Agricultural production can be increased complicated by making use of radioisotopes. Commercial production will go up. There will be no pollution due to smoke and fumes advent out of chimneys. A revolution can be brought about in the medical science. We know that radium rays are used for treating cancer and other diseases. Atomic energy can be used in place of conventional sources of energy in transport. This will make transport quicker cheaper and more comfortable.

Japan's Nuclear crisis

Recent events in Japan have shown us the dangers of nuclear power plants. Once safe bet conditions exist, the habitancy who build and say these plants have virtually no way of preventing risky radiation from spreading to the general population.

How a Nuclear Plant Works

Nuclear Power

To understand what happened in Japan recently, and at Three Mile Island in the U.S. In 1979, and Chernobyl in the Ukrainian Ssr in 1986, you first need to know how a nuclear plant works.

Nuclear plants comprise one or more reactors. The reactor core sits in the town of the reactor. It contains radioactive fuels, uranium or a mix of uranium and plutonium, in pellet form. These are packed in long tubes made of zirconium metal.

This fuel plainly gets very hot because of the radiation. When immersed in water, it produces steam, which is then used in a generator to produce electricity.

In expanding to producing steam, water cools the fuel in the reactor core, holding its climatic characteristic at safe levels.

The reactor core is surrounded by a reinforced buildings that contains a dry well and one or more wet wells. This is called the primary containment and serves to keep radiation from escaping into the atmosphere.

The secondary containment is the reactor construction itself, which is typically qualified with air filters designed to capture any radiation that may have escaped the primary containment. This provides another level of defense to ensure nothing escapes into the atmosphere.

Nuclear Accidents

Japan's new earthquakes caused two problems, both of which contributed to the nuclear emergency.

First, the earthquakes were strong sufficient to cause cracks, fire, and explosions within multiple reactors. This took away any safety offered by the now-destroyed buildings that provided secondary containment for some of the reactors. Some venture has been raised about cracks in the primary containments as well. These raise serious concerns about the publish of radiation.

Second, the pumps that circulated water to cool the fuel rods stopped working. Without cold water permanently running past to remove excess heat, the climatic characteristic within the reactor core rises. Soon the water heats up and evaporates. The heat produced by radioactive fuel can heat to where the tubes that hold it blister and rupture. Radioactive material is now released into the reactive vessel that holds the core.

When this happens, relief valves automatically open to publish steam from the reactor vessel into the surrounding primary containment. Radioactive material escapes with the steam.

During this time, workers will be doing all they can to cool the reactor. For example, in Japan sea water was injected into some of the reactors. There were also reports of water cannons being used to deliver water into valuable areas. These are all attempts to preclude partial or unblemished meltdowns.

Partial Meltdown

Fuel that remains uncovered by water, and thus exposed for some hours, will start to melt. Melted fuel drains from pipes and collects on the lowest of the reactor vessel. Left unchecked, the molten fuel can at last burn its way straight through the reactor vessel.

Complete Meltdown

Once the fuel melts straight through the reactor vessel, it drops onto the floor of the primary containment. This accommodation is designed to comprise the melted fuel and the radiation it emits. However, there is all the time a opportunity this will fail. The radioactive emissions cause a buildup in pressure within the containment. Add to that the damage already caused by earthquakes and you can see why Japan has a major emergency.

If reactor vessels are breached and primary and secondary containments are both damaged, dangerously large amounts of radiation can be released into the atmosphere.

The Danger of Radiation

We all live with small amounts of background radiation. When you get x-rays, larger amounts are sent straight through your body. These and other small amounts of radiation are not harmful. In some cases, radiation can even be used to improve health, for example, in treating safe bet cancers.

Release of large doses of radiation from a nuclear urgency is a separate situation altogether. Extreme doses of radiation destroy living tissue. High doses damage tissue, which can lead to birth defects, cancer, and linked diseases.

Iodine-131 and Cesium-137 are two of the radioactive isotopes released as a consequent of a nuclear accident.

Iodine-131 spreads rapidly and is most risky immediately following an accident. The human body absorbs this element into the thyroid gland, where it can cause cancer. Iodine-131 has a half-life of eight days. That means its radioactivity drops by half every eight days. After some weeks or months, Iodine-131 will no longer cause new damage because it will no longer be radioactive.

Cesium-137, the second radioactive isotope produced, has a half-life of 30 years. It will take more than a century to decay to the point where its radioactivity will no longer cause harm.

Living organisms treat Cesium-137 the same as they treat potassium, an element that is ordinarily found in salt. This means that Cesium-137 can be passed straight through the food chain. You can be exposed to radiation by eating meat or vegetables from organisms previously exposed to this source of radiation. Cesium-137 is known to produce many kinds of cancer.

Can it happen here?

A nuclear urgency can happen anywhere a nuclear power plant is in operation.

In the United States, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (Nrc) oversees construction and carrying out of nuclear power plants. Their website has widespread information, along with names and locations of all nuclear power plants in the U.S.

The Union of involved Scientists, an independent organization, also provides information, along with concerns about the use and safety of nuclear power.

seeing Wind Power in the United States

Wind power is the most rapidly growing form of renewable energy in the world. It is currently growing at a rate of more than 30 percent per year, and already has an installed capacity more than 7 times greater than that of solar power. 80 countries currently have market wind farms. The United States currently gets 3 percent of its electricity from the wind, manufacture it second in capacity only to China. The installed capacity in the U.S. Exceeds 40,000 megawatts.

Turbines are springing up all over the country. There are farms in 37 states. 14 of these states have large-scale installations. Texas is the country's foremost producer. The largest wind farm in the world is located in Texas. Iowa is the second largest producer, followed by California and then Minnesota. Other states that have large installations comprise Oregon, Washington, and Kansas. Projects are under building in several states, and there is a push to setup off-shore turbines in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. These would be the first off-shore installations in the United States and, if constructed, would greatly add to renewable energy resources on the east coast. There are also a amount of conventional farms under improvement in states from North Dakota to Oregon.

Nuclear Power

The amount of power generated by these installations varies continuously. Some factors that sway the power generated on any given day comprise the direction of the prevailing winds, their speed, and the size of the installed windmills. On a windy day in October of 2010, the farms generated 25 percent of all the electricity used in Texas. Iowa gets nearly 20 percent of all its electrical needs from its turbines, and there are plans to add more in the future.

State and federal governments are getting complicated in wind power in a big way. The U.S. Group of energy believes that up to 20 percent of all electricity produced in the United States could ultimately come from turning turbines, instead of burning coal or nuclear fission. The National Renewable energy Laboratory is now building a installation specifically to test turbine blades. State governments are also helping out. Texas has committed to expanding its galvanic grid to aid in power transmission. Many states are also providing principal investment capital to the industry.

Wind power is fast gaining in popularity, both in the U.S. And colse to the world. This fully green, ecologically friendly, and infinitely renewable power source is changing the time to come of electricity generation and the world.

The goal is to achieve fusion... getting more energy out than was used to create it. It's never been done before under controlled conditions, just in nuclear weapons and in stars. We expect to do it within the next 2-3 years. The purpose is threefold: to create an almost limitless supply of safe, carbon-free, proliferation-free electricity; examine new regimes of astrophysics as well as basic science; and study the inner-workings of the US stockpile of nuclear weapons to ensure they remain safe, secure and reliable without the need for underground testing. Nuclear Power for Australia?

Australia has one of the worlds largest supplies of Uranium. It is therefore ironic that Australia has not taken advantage of this reserved supply to yield power. Australia only has one nuclear reactor and this is mainly for scientific use/research not the output of power. This is because Australia also has huge cheaply way coal reserves. Australia therefore has numerous coal plants for the output of power, the majority of power output coming from this source. Being a dry continent currently in the grip of a report drought the options for hydro power is little and largely already exploited.

The question with being so reliant on coal is the estimate of Co2 and other gases produced that are contributing to global warming. Australia which continues to has a growing cheaper and population has increasing power demands like most of the world. Australia which has not sign the Kyoto agreement (rightly so as Kyoto is a mere band aid measure and will not seriously change our environmental problems).

Nuclear Reactor

Thus the Australian prime minister, John Howard, is pushing Australians to reconsider the nuclear option to meet hereafter power needs as nuclear power plants don't emit Co2 or other greenhouse gases. any way there are a estimate of problems with this option.

Firstly nuclear power is more costly power. Australians already complain about the size of their power bills (an average family in Brisbane spends about 0-0 a quarter or over 00 a year). This is particularly felt most by those who rely on air conditioning to counter Australia's hot climate. They are not willing to accept more costly options.

Secondly although there are thousands of nuclear power plants operating without incident and although it happened on the other side of the world Australians are well aware of the Chernobyl disaster and the shocking consequences that continue to be felt. Australia although a large continent is essentially like a giant island with a belt of green extending only a few hundred kilometers inland from the sea with the rest being in a vast desert or near desert condition for much of the time. Australia couldn't afford to have any section of this 'green' band destroyed or a no go zone, such a effect would have a greater impact in event of a disaster than in other 'normal' countries. It has already been made clear for nuclear power to be a option is must be near a water source and near to power users to cut down on transmission costs.

The vast majority of Australian would have the view of "not in my back yard". Whilst most wouldn't care if a power plant in the middle of the desert a consolidate of thousand of kilometers away, the lack of water and transmission costs for make this an unrealistic option. With a power plant in their back yard there is the higher risk of radiation from the converyance of nuclear waste to a holding premise (likely to be somewhere in the outback). Although Australian could positively have a nucealr waste premise with no threat to population due to extreme isolation and geological stablity in the outback, the question lies in transporting the stuff there. Road and Rail converyance are both branch to quarterly accidents. A heavy vehicle carrying waste could effect in a mini-chernobyl with nuclear waste entering the environment from such an accident perhaps endangering a large area and having long term consequences.

Such waste from a nuclear power plant would also give Australia the potential to immediately make nuclear weapons in a very short space of time. Australia is already recognised has having the technological know how to yield the need missle and warhead technology. Such an outcome would be very worrying for our neighbours and lessen our discussion against nations such as North Korea having nuclear weapons.

Likewise such nuclear power plants would be a magnet for terrorists and the like.

The final nail in the coffin for the prime ministers idea is that the states have made it clear they have no interest in nuclear power. Such a battle over energy would be over the very survival of states and their rights. If the states lost such a battle the point of having individual state parliments would be mute, they would be useless overhangs from federation with the Federal government in fact taking over all government in Australia should such an at last occur. Some would argue this process of the destruction of the state government is already well underway, with the federal government grabbing ever more power, but supplementary on this is for another article.

Whilst nuclear power presents a vison of greenhouse gase free energy output it doesn't gift a realistic hereafter for Australia. Australia has other options to explore, both wind and solar, perhaps geothermal and even the real hereafter for a cleaner world - H2 - Hydrogen power. perhaps putting explore and money into this field will yield better and more politically appropriate results.

Can Nuclear energy Save You From Global Warming?

Just fantasize a world with abundant energy, enabling you to live the good life forever... Isn't that what most of us crave? Nuclear vigor is magic isn't it?

Nuclear vigor has no greenhouse gas emissions. The latest technology has made it safe and we can bury nuclear waste without worrying about radiation. Enterprise as usual without doing any harm.

Nuclear Reactor

Perfect!

Well, is it?

Nuclear vigor is magical thing. It's hard to understand how it works and it's easy to get bamboozled by claims made by the nuclear magicians - scientists - as well as by opponents.

Take veteran environmentalist Dr James Lovelock, of Gaia fame who says only nuclear vigor can save us from global warming. Or Dr Helen Caldicott who says it's too hazardous and we do not need it.

And governments ... Well, depends on who you talk to.

Your life is full already without figuring out what is valid and what's not. Right?

Easier to just leave it to "Them."

But stop!

Find out the facts on nuclear vigor and nuclear radiation hazards. Then make up your mind - and next time there is an selection you vote with some knowledge under your belt. There is plentifulness of information out there to help you make up your mind and I'll give you a leg-up.

So, here is an easy framework. fantasize experiencing a obvious "knowing"about this leading issue on your way to the ballot box, or in talking with your friends.

Given that global warming is a real threat, and global vigor interrogate is ballooning, then the nuclear vigor turn over is essentially about four Big Issues.

1) Can nuclear vigor deliver on a low-emission or even non-emission basis?

2) Is nuclear vigor for electrical power purposes safe?

3) Can it be delivered at a cheap cost?

4) How does it collate with other low-emission alternate vigor sources?

Here is an summary only of those issues. But don't just take my word for it. Find out more yourself!

Emissions
Yes, nuclear vigor is emission-free if you just portion the exhausts from a reactor's chimney. In one study, nuclear vigor came close to wind power in low emissions over its lifetime. There is no air pollution, with big nuclear vigor user France having the cleanest air in Europe. No, it is not emission-free and is a greenhouse gas emitter, when measuring mining of uranium and transporting it, construction and decommissioning nuclear power plants.
Safe?
Chernobyl still stands the only disastrous accident with a nuclear power plant, and the antiquated buildings and performance taken after the "melt-down" bears much blame. Any safeguards are only as good as the habitancy that conduct them, and any supplementary accident will be one too many. Modern nuclear power plant structures are much safer. A terrorist attack, using radioactive material in a dirty bomb cannot be excluded. A terrorist assault using an airplane could be disastrous, even though deactivating a modern nuclear plant can be done in 5 seconds. A higher-than-normal incidence of childhood leukemia has been reported near power plants in the Uk, France and Germany. So-called Generation Iv nuclear reactors, together with "fast breeders" are said to be cleaner (low radiation level waste), cheaper and safer but the first will not be ready before 2010, some not until 2030.
Cost
Economics of nuclear vigor is a wobbly concept, depending on the assumptions about other vigor sources and their end costs. Nuclear reactors currently have very high start-up and close-down costs compared to other low-emission, and renewable vigor sources. Costs are more than just counting money.
Comparison to low-emission vigor sources
You'll find many studies with separate results. One must take into list the urgent threat presented by global warming, that of radioactive energy, and appraise the benefits of energy-wise living and currently available renewable vigor sources.

The magical attraction of nuclear vigor remains: throw enough money at it and all our problems will seem to go away. But the hereafter is most likely one of a diversified use of renewable vigor with some nuclear energy. It's a interrogate of where to put the emphasis.

Nuclear vigor sources removes habitancy even supplementary from tangible "natural" processes. More of the same kind of mental that caused our global warming problems in the first place. Why not emphasize responsible vigor use, and the use of the Great Big Nuclear Reactor In The Sky to drive wind, tidal and solar energy. And to try and live in harmonious relationship with each other and our environments.

But you just have to make up your own mind. My children's hereafter and yours depend on you. Only your personal attitude - the greatest vigor source we know - can help you live with global warming. And we are going to have to live with it for a long, long time.

English subtitles based on the ProjectAvalon.net transcript projectavalon.net From ufodigest.com Robert Hastings Presents: Major UFO Press Conference In Washington, DC September 27th, 2010 US Nuclear Weapons Have Been Compromised by Unidentified Aerial Objects Ex-military men say unknown intruders have monitored and even tampered with American nuclear missiles Group to call on US Government to reveal the facts Witness testimony from more than 120 former or retired military personnel points to an ongoing and alarming intervention by unidentified aerial objects at nuclear weapons sites, as recently as 2003. In some cases, several nuclear missiles simultaneously and inexplicably malfunctioned while a disc-shaped object silently hovered nearby. Six former US Air Force officers and one former enlisted man will break their silence about these events at the National Press Club and urge the government to publicly confirm their reality. One of them, ICBM launch officer Captain Robert Salas, was on duty during one missile disruption incident at Malmstrom Air Force Base and was ordered to never discuss it. Another participant, retired Col. Charles Halt, observed a disc-shaped object directing beams of light down into the RAF Bentwaters airbase in England and heard on the radio that they landed in the nuclear weapons storage area. Both men will provide stunning details about these events, and reveal how the US military responded. Captain Salas notes, "The US Air Force is lying about ...

Signing an Arms Treaty with Russia is Like development a Deal with a 3-Year Old Not to Eat Ice Cream

Most would agree that good diplomacy with Russia over nuclear weapons is smart, and that at least talking about the issues and concerns is much great than paranoia, mistrust, and missile envy. And either way it's great to know your real or perceived enemy great than your friends or so it's been said. Now then, what we have is President Obama eagerly running over to Russia to try to do a deal to cut the number of nuclear weapons of both the Us and Russia.

Sure, it couldn't hurt his approval numbers to come back with a new signed compact of some type, even if it's not worth the paper it's written on - you know that's just great Pr media stuff for the masses. They eat it up like candy, and I am sure the Russian Tv middle point here at home, along with our media will call him the savior from nuclear war. But is it so? maybe not, you see, Russia knows that Obama is in serious trouble at home politically, almost to the point of being ineffectual.

Nuclear Weapons

President Obama is someone Russia needs because he is workable to serve their will, I certify you they don't want someone like me in there - quite frankly, I don't do Bs, nor would I be so manipulated like a patsy. But, let's talk real world here. Can we as a matter of fact trust the Russians on this? History says no, but everybody wants to be able to trust them, everybody wants to ditch this crazy conception of nuclear war - that won't do anyone any good.

Even the Rand Think Tank would lose out, they'd no longer be needed to think on the topic. Oh, and speaking of what's going on, a continuation or final ending and door closing on the cold war, as it's been cracked open for decades. In a recent report online titled; "Russia and Us to Sign Strategic Arms Treaty by Year End" posted on November 17, 2010 - the impression was given that the Obama management was planning on development a deal with the Russians to get rid of vast amounts of nuclear weapons.

That's what's going on right now. But many, myself included think it is irresponsible of the Obama management to make any deals with Russia that might put our drive in jeopardy. And whereas, the American Federation of Scientists are all over this issue and relishing the rejoicing of other signed treaty limiting nuclear weapons and agreeing on limiting nuclear weapon proliferation, I have my personal doubts.

We are not going to win any points with the Russian citizen since their operate of the media will spin the news to suit the Russian government, in fact, they are sure to make us look bad in their media. And, acting on such a compact with the Russians could end up being purely one-sided, we reduce, they don't, but say they do. Meaning the old "trust but verify" era is still and all the time present. I don't know about you, but I am not buying any of this. Please think it.
