A History of protection

Throughout history, the protection and condition movement has been impacted by legislation. In the following protection and condition chronology, fine events, individuals, and legislative action are set forth to illustrate the theme that the protection professional/practitioner is and has been a considerable part of those preventive experiences making up the story of life.

The antique Chinese (c 2,500 Bc) spread the risk of loss by placing 1/6 of their harvest on each of six boats traveling to the market.

Nuclear Reactor

Hammurabi (c 2,000 Bc), ruler of Babylon, was responsible for the Code of Hammurabi, part of which bears resemblance to today's workers' payment laws.

Ancient Egyptians (as early as 1600 Bc) recognized the hazards of breathing the fumes produced by melting silver and gold.

Hippocrates (c 460-c 377 Bc), the father of contemporary medicine, established a link in the middle of the respiratory problems of Greek stonecutters and the rock dust surrounding them.

In antique Rome, the few slaves who survived the perilous task of ship launching were given their freedom.

In 1601, the first English statute on "assurance" (an earlier term for insurance) was enacted. This statute covered marine risks.

In 1667, the Great Fire of London (September 2-7, 4666), caused the first English fire guarnatee laws to be enacted.

In 1700, Bernardino Ramazzini, an Italian physician, published the first thesis attempting to prove the connections in the middle of vocation and disease.

In 1730, Benjamin Franklin organized the first fire-fighting enterprise in the United States as well as detecting lead poisoning symptoms with Dr. Evans.

In 1775, English doctors discovered that chimney sweeps, who were exposed to coal tar residues in their daily work, showed a higher incidence of cancer than did the normal population.

In 1792, the first hire to write marine and fire guarnatee was granted in the United States.

In 1812, the Embargo of the War of 1812 spurred the improvement of the New England textile industry and the founding of factory mutual companies. These early guarnatee fellowships inspected properties for hazards and recommend loss control and stoppage methods in order to get low rates for their policyholders.

In 1864, The Pennsylvania Mine protection Act (Pmsa) was passed into law.

In 1864, North America's first accident guarnatee policy was issued.

In 1867, the state of Massachusetts instituted the first government-sponsored factory inspection program.

In 1877, the state of Massachusetts passed a law requiring guarding for perilous machinery, and took authority for obligation of factory inspection programs.

In 1878, the first recorded call by a labor assosication for federal occupational protection and condition law is heard.

In 1896, an association to forestall fires and write codes and standards, the National Fire protection association (Nfpa), was founded.

In 1902, the state of Maryland passed the first workers' payment law.

In 1904, the first endeavor by a state government to force employers to compensate their employees for on-the-job injuries was overturned when the consummate Court declared Maryland's workers' payment law to be unconstitutional.

On March 21, 1911, in the Asch construction in New York City, nearly 150 women and young girls died in the Triangle Shirtwaist factory Fire because of locked fire exits and inadequate fire extinguishing systems. A major turning point in history, this fire changed regulation by the government and laws instituted to safe workers.

In 1911, a professional, technical assosication responsible for developing protection codes for boilers and elevators, the American community of Mechanical Engineers (Asme) was founded. A17 protection Code was published.

1911-1915, while this five-year period, 30 states passed workers' payment laws.

In October 14, 1911, the American community of protection Engineers (Asse) was founded in New York City. Originally named the United community of Casualty Inspectors. The Asse was dedicated to the improvement of accident stoppage techniques, and to the advancement of protection engineering as a profession.

California compel Commission, now known as the California public Utilities Commission, ws created by constitutional amendment to oversee rail safety, along with the protection of highway/rail crossings.

In 1912, a group of engineers representing guarnatee companies, industry, and government met in Milwaukee to exchange data on accident prevention. The assosication formed at this meeting was to come to be the National protection Council (Nsc). (Today, the Nsc carries on major protection campaigns for the normal public, as well as assists industry in the improvement of protection promotion programs.)

In 1916, the consummate Court upheld the constitutionality of state workers' payment laws.

In 1918, the American Standards association was founded. Responsible for the improvement of many voluntary protection standards, some of which are referenced into laws, today, it is now called the American National Standards develop [Ansi].

In 1931 the Uniform Traffic Code was established because of the growth in speed and volume of motor vehicle traffic and accidents. The code consists of four separate acts: motor vehicle registration, driver licensing, automobile anti-theft and uniform traffic regulations.

In 1936, Frances Perkins, Secretary of Labor, called for a federal occupational protection and condition law. This action came a full 58 years after organized labor's first recorded invite for a law of this nature.

In 1936, the Walsh-Healey (Public Contracts) Act passed. This law required that all federal contracts be fulfilled in a corrective and safe working environment.

By 1948, all states (48 at the time) now had workers' payment laws.

In 1952, Coal Mine protection Act (Cmsa) was passed into law.

In 1960, exact protection standards were promulgated for the Walsh-Healey Act.

On Jan 3, 1961, an accident at an experimental nuclear reactor at a federal factory near Idaho Falls, Id kills three workers. These were the first deaths in U.S. Nuclear reactor operations.

In 1966, the Metal and Nonmetallic Mines protection Act (Mnmsa) was passed.

In 1966, the U.S. Group of transportation (Dot) and its sections, the National Highway Traffic protection supervision (Nhtsa) and the National transportation protection Board (Ntsb), were established.

In 1968, President Lyndon Johnson called for a federal occupational protection and condition law.

In 1969, the construction protection Act (Csa) was passed.

In 1969, the Board of Certified protection Professionals (Bcsp) was established. This assosication certifies practitioners in the protection profession.

In 1970, President Richard Nixon signed into law the Occupational protection and condition Act (Osha), thus creating the Osha supervision and the National develop for Occupational protection and condition (Niosh).

In 1970, on January 1, the National Environmental policy Act, (Nepa) was signed. This provided a national hire for protecting and improving the environment and created the Environmental protection Group (Epa).

On May 29, 1971, the firast Osha standards were adopted to supply a baseline for protection and condition protection in American workplaces.

In 1972, the Consumers stock protection Act (Cpsa) was signed into law.

In 1976, The resource Conservation and rescue Act (Rcra) passed and became the instrument by which the supervision of perilous waste is regulated.

In 1980, to address the issues of perilous waste management, the Pollution Liability guarnatee association (Plia) was formed.

Jan 16, 1981 Osha updates enterprise electrical standards to simplify compliance and adopt a doing approach.

1991 North Carolina Plant Fire kills 25 workers and 49 injured at the Imperial Chicken processing plant in settlement Nc. The employees were trapped inside due to padlocked doors meant to keep vandals away.

Sep 11, 2001, 2886 work related fatalities along with 537 rescue workers, resulted from terrorist attacks on the Ny City World Trade Center, at the Pentagon, an on the planes that crashed.

Nuclear Waste in Dounreay, Great Britain - The End Of An Era

Where does radioactive waste collect from?

Radioactive waste can be generated wherever nuclear products such as plutonium, uranium and thorium are handled. Nuclear products have lots of uses: power generation, weapons, the rehabilitation of cancer and other drugs, sources for business and so on.

Nuclear Weapons

Consider the following process: extraction of uranium from the earth, processing of the uranium, use of the processed uranium, recycling, disposal. At every single duration of this treatment, nuclear waste products are produced, radioactive material may contaminate any of the following: equipment, vehicles, land, gear, containers, sea water and even environment. Every single one of toxic item turn into nuclear waste.

As a matter of fact not every waste are equal. Sure may be far more unsafe when compared with others. As an illustration, a few contamination impart a level of radioactivity which can be lower than the ambient radiation that we are exposed to often though, a Sure number of waste can show an very huge and unsafe degree of radioactivity that they must be encapsulated for several years otherwise, they might cause problems for human health and turn out to be source of cancer or other sickness. Radioactive waste was generated at Dounreay when the initial nuclear materials were conveyable to the web site in the 1950s.

Consistent with what was understood about radioactivity at the moment, the experts fulfilled, that a great deal of lower action waste may very well be dumped in the ocean, environment and soil, whilst the higher action waste products might perhaps be held until such time as a suitable rehabilitation is positively produced.

As time went by, scientists found a lot more with regards to radioactivity. They equally devised improved techniques to store and also get rid nuclear waste. Because of this, far best standards were put in place for the treatment, safe-keeping and disposal of radioactive waste.

Dounreay Site restoration slight (Dsrl) needs to deal with close to 175 thousand cubic metres of solid low-level radioactive waste (Llw) that might be produced from decommissioning of the Dounreay site. An open and consultative Best Practicable Environmental selection (Bpeo) led to the decision to apply for permission to institute new Low Level Waste disposal facilities at Dounreay.

Dsrl received planning permission from the Highland Council to institute new disposal facilities in 2009. The planning application was based on an independent Environmental Impact Assessment, site investigation work, institute and protection studies, and extensive consultation. This approval represents a vital step in securing the time to come decommission programme for Dounreay. Dsrl has also submitted an application to the environmental regulators for authorisation of waste disposal at the facilities, based on an independently ready and peer reviewed Environmental protection Case (Esc).

Dsrl intends to use the facilities only for disposal of the solid Llw generated at Dounreay and the adjacent Vulcan site. The facilities will be placed immediately to the northeast of the Dounreay licensed site. institute and construction of the first phase will begin in 2011, with first waste emplacements planned for 2014. After the vaults are full, the facilities will be fulfilled, and the excavation backfilled and the area will be restored using an engineered cap.

Steps have been taken to abate the environmental impact. Simultaneously actions to help the community are being put in place.

Higher action wastes accumulated at Dounreay in stores and inexpressive disposal facilities, such as the shaft. These facilities are being cleaned out, the wastes recovered, organised and repackaged to contemporary criteria. Throughout its history, the disposal of radioactive waste from Dounreay has been regulated by successive Government departments and agencies. Today, the disposal of radioactive waste is regulated by the Scottish Environment protection Agency, while the storage of radioactive waste is regulated by the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate of the health and protection Executive.

The clearance of tens of thousands of tonnes of radioactive waste from the obsolete nuclear site at Dounreay today moved a step closer.

Dounreay Site restoration Ltd released the valid award of a contract to institute a disposal site for low-level waste from the decommissioning and closure of the site.

Graham construction will institute the first 2 of up to six inexpressive packaging capable of taking up 175,000m3 of radioactive debris received from the clean-out and demolition of Britain's last century effort with fast breeder reactors.

Low level waste is accountable to above eighty per cent by volume of the radioactive waste that will be exhibited while demolition of the site, but less than 0.01 per cent by radioactivity.

The scheduled occasion of the first vault in 2013, will herald the starting of waste clearance from the site. The disposal site is based alongside the redundant atomic site on land owned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.Graham is imaginable to move its team into position in September and kick off earth excavation in October.

Some of the stone arrival from later stages will likely be crushed and reused as aggregate to scenery the squashed atomic plant, reducing the entire charge for site restoration by a few million pounds. Some eight thousands tonnes of blend created from the crushed boulders of structure already razed is being used to make the roads and hardstanding areas at the new waste disposal site.

The Nda is spending 4 million sterling pounds in a community advantage fund attached to the development. The first payment of Gbp 1 million is due when development begins in October.

Nuclear Waste in Dounreay, Great Britain - The End Of An Era

The Advantages of Nuclear energy

In a world where the threat of global warming is looming over the hereafter of our planet, it is becoming more and more prominent to look into renewable, alternative forms of energy. With energy use growing at a rate of 3% per year, soon it will be determined to seek our options. Though it has been under much scrutiny in the past, the advantages of nuclear energy make it one form of powering our planet that should strongly be considered. By reducing emissions, the production of nuclear energy would in turn sacrifice the effects of global warming. In comparison with gas and coal fired power plants, nuclear energy plants generate less than 1/100th of the Co2 created by the traditional power plants.

There are 2 processes in producing nuclear energy- fission and fusion. Fission, which is the splitting of nuclei, creates more than 10 million times the energy that is created in the burning of fossil fuels. Fusion, which is the process of joining nuclei, happens simply in stars and the sun, and though the process has been recreated by man, it has not yet been safely controlled. When the ability to safely harness the energy from the fusion process has been developed, the amounts of usable nuclear energy will dramatically increase.

Nuclear Power

Nuclear energy can be renewable depending on the type of reactor that is being used. Currently, there are 442 reactors operating in the world, 130 of which are in the United States. Another 12 are being built in foreign countries. With the current technology, only 1% of the energy available in uranium is able to be captured by thermal reactors. This energy makes up between 11% and 18% of the total energy available in the world. Developing technologies that would allow us to capture more of this available energy, is at least 15 years away, but with incentives, these advances could be a realistic part of our future. The potential is not the only part of the advantages of nuclear energy.

Uranium, the source of nuclear energy, is available in large quantities in Australia. The uranium is reasonably cheap to mine, and easy to vehicle to reactors around the globe, development nuclear energy relatively uncostly to yield when compared to accepted methods of energy production. The median concluded cost of nuclear energy is between 3 and 5 cents per kilowatt, and the cost has dropped over the last 26 years, while the cost of other forms of energy has risen steadily over the same duration of time.

When considering the advantages of nuclear energy, it is also prominent to keep in mind the challenges that the process also comes with. Radiation accidents are at the top of the list. Since the 1950's, 17 accidents have been reported throughout the world, with only a few causing serious illness and death. While condition and collective protection are of utmost concern, we must consider the relatively low crisis rates, and how additional advances in technology could help preclude other accidents from occurring.

0800043 - 1962 Pacific Nuclear Tests - 1962 - 21:15 - Color - "Polaris underway with a nuclear warhead," is the narrators description of the first of a two-part video. Joint Task Force 8, made up primarily of Department of Defense and Atomic Energy Commission representatives, was responsible for the upcoming test. The video shows the preparations, installation of safety monitoring and diagnostic equipment, placement of test and observation vessels, and the actual nuclear test of a Fleet Ballistic Missile. Participating in the test were personnel aboard the aircraft carrier Yorktown, the destroyer Norton Sound, and the submarine Carbonero. The May 6, 1962, date loomed for the nuclear detonation FRIGATE BIRD, part of the Operation Dominic/Nougat test series. The test was conducted approximately 525 miles from Christmas Island, the nearest land mass, at coordinates for ground zero of North 4 degrees 50 minutes, West 149 degrees 25 minutes. The submerged submarine Ethan Allen, carrying 16 Polaris missiles, launched the missile, and the warhead detonated on target, giving the cameras and viewers a spectacular scene. The narrator closes: "Polaris on target. . .with design yield and full service." The yield has not been announced, but it was enough to shake the crew of the submarine Carbonero for several seconds. The second part of the video shows an antisubmarine rocket (ASROC) underwater nuclear weapons-effects test, described as another proof test of a Navy nuclear weapon ...

He indicated that the Us military had all the weapons they would ever need. One has to laugh at such a statement as once a Us Patent Office Bureaucrat had said; "Everything that will ever be invented has already been invented" and this was back about 100 years ago. Can you imagine if we had remained stagnant and the human race had never invented someone else new innovation?

So, I spend about 15 minutes and came up with some items that the Us military will need in the time to come but does not currently have. All I can think is what if I had given myself 2-hours of solid reasoning on this concept?

There must have 300-400 new concepts listed on my website and I get more each day. So seeing something the Us military needs is not too hard. What they in fact need is a public, which supports our military to the fullest and which is not so caught up in liberalism that they understand the need for such. We are talking about humans here and our civilization and the time to come of our species has always been about strength. Until that changes, we need to be pressing on. Think on this.

The Nuclear Bear: Tu-95 1/5 Tube. Duration : 9.77 Mins.

Wings Of The Red Star The Tupolev Tu-95 (Russian: Туполев Ту95) is a large, four-engine turboprop powered strategic bomber and missile platform. First flown in 1952, the Tu-95 was put into service by the former Soviet Union in 1956 and is expected to serve the Russian Air Force until at least 2040. Commonly known by its NATO designation, the "Bear" the aircraft has four Kuznetsov NK-12 engines, each driving contra-rotating propellers. It remains the fastest mass-produced propeller-driven aircraft and the only turboprop-powered strategic bomber to go into operational use. Its distinctively swept back wings are at 35 degrees, a very sharp angle by the standards of propeller-driven aircraft. A naval development of the bomber is designated Tu-142.

The Case For the Use of Nukes in Afghanistan

How can the U.S. Fulfill its mission in Afghanistan without dusting off and employing nuclear weapons?

I'm not talking about using the big boys capable of wiping out the entire country. I'm referring to low-yield nukes that will clear entire regions of combatants quickly and efficiently without having to expose our military to danger. Strategic nuclear weapons are effective, contract and surely delivered.

Nuclear Weapons

There is a recipe to war; expend abc to perform xyz.

For example, in Iraq the U.S. Spent trillion, lost 4,209 military lives, killed over 1 million Iraqis, destroyed billions of dollars in asset and materiel, and spent six years doing so. Might it not be great in Afghanistan to sell out the costs when the outcome will be the same, by employing very effective, if controversial, nuclear weapon technology?

That's what nukes are good at; efficient killing with the minimum of effort. The Afghan mission can be terminated with nothing more than the cost of gas from our Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean to Afghanistan and back. surely surviving Afghan sheep may grow six legs for a few hundred years or so but that's a small price to pay to save our soldiers lives, and spare Afghanistan at large, supplementary turmoil and torment.

War, by definition is a deadly business. There is nothing fair about it. The guy with the bigger stick ordinarily wins. The trick is to do so without getting harmed yourself.

A war in Afghanistan is impossible to win by approved means. As old conflicts have shown, mere manpower is not enough. As seven years of floor covering and strategic approved bombing have shown, that too is not enough. With all the resources of technology and the instruments of death at our fingertips, we have not yet so much as disturbed a hair on the head of our declared enemy, Osama Bin Laden. Why?

Because we are not using all of the resources at our disposal. For some surmise we - and our politicians - seem to think that there is a humane way to wage war. There isn't; dead is dead. Our enemies in Afghanistan are not so diplomatic and are restrained only by their lack of passage to more deadly technology. Otherwise our cities would be smoldering piles of masonry as 9/11 amply demonstrated.

The hills and valleys of Afghanistan are scattered with the debris of old wars, civil and incursive. The mountain terrain bears silent study to the ghosts of invaders who have come and gone. The British in the mid 18th century were faced with an invisible enemy as were the Soviets in the 1980s. Both were world superpowers of their times. Both, despite all of contemporary technology ready to them, left the country with their tails between their legs, their soldiers demoralized, shocked and shaken. America can't afford an caress like that.

Afghanistan is a merciless region inhabited by tribesmen toughened straight through hard living and generations of battle. As devout orthodox Muslims these warriors believe that killing the enemy (us) is their sole mission at the cost of their own lives. It's hard to fight person who is not afraid to die; to whom life has no value. They have no qualms about using and hiding behind civilians; their opinion of life is alien to us, as ours is to them. The Taliban, the guardians of Al-Qaeda, believe that they can kill other Muslims too if they do not quantum up to their orthodox quantum of Islam. Life is cheap; schooling for women forbidden; contemporary accoutrements banned. There is no law other than tribal which tends to be rudimentary, swift and brutal.

There are few more hostile environments on earth. Past invaders feared the night, fearing above all else being left wounded on an Afghan battlefield. As recounted in a a poem written by Rudyard Kipling, "The Young British Soldier," in 1892, "When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains, And the women come out to cut up what remains, Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains, An' go to your Gawd like a soldier."

The Ussr spent nine years in the rugged country during the 1980s. We (the U.S.) have been there seven. The borders of the country are porous; the tribes freely cross and mingle with brethren in Iran, and the four 'stans'; Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan where we cannot follow. They are heavily armed, thanks to the United States; the consequent of the U.S. Pouring money and weaponry into the area during the Soviet invasion.

The Soviets fought an all-out war against this enemy using every approved means at their disposal and lost. With a rotated Soviet troop presence of over 100,000, a local Afghan army of over 300,000, all of the military might of the Soviet bloc, and free from the restrictions imposed by a requisite media, the Soviets could not stop Afghanistan becoming their Vietnam.

The result; 14,000 Soviet deaths, 465,000 injuries and illness from lack of hygiene. Over 1 million Afghans were killed, 4.2 million wounded and maimed. Despite the catastrophic losses the tribesmen came out victorious. There's a warning for us there.

As was learned in Iraq and countless old conflicts, civilian casualties are part of the firm of war. It's unfortunate; a fact nonetheless and once committed to war we tend to forget. As Stalin said, one death is a tragedy; one million a statistic.

Over the course of our invasion of Iraq, we killed, by the calculation of a British study firm opinion study firm (See 1 below), over one million Iraqis, combatants and civilians alike. It is safe to assume that the same will happen in Afghanistan except this time the terrain works against us increasing the odds in favor of the enemy.

The decision therefore is how much we are willing to spend in terms of our manpower to perform our mission. Indeed, what is our mission? If the Taliban and Al-Qaeda are our enemy and their goal is the destruction of our culture and lifestyle, we cannot leave without their total destruction or they will continue their methodical attempts to destroy us. They're in no hurry and can wait for technology to come to them. Iran's rush for nuclear weapons could well be the harbinger of things to come in that region; and ours.

One American life lost is too many. Fighting the tribesmen in their mountain locations will be slow, tedious and by historic record, impossible. So why bother?

Nukes allow us to fight a hands-off war, on our own terms. After all what is a nuke but a large bomb? approved explosives make mushroom clouds too. Both types of bomb kill, burn and dismember. However to do the job of one nuke we would have to send in 1,000 bombers laden with convention explosives risking men and equipment.

Why not use nukes? Their use is barbaric? That's what war is. Have you ever seen what a bullet does to a person? Or high explosives? Or an artillery shell? Let me repeat, dead is dead; whether it's terminated with a jagged hole in the head or the complete disintegration of a body.

If killing is our firm let's use the most efficient technique we have and be done with Afghanistan. We'll perform our mission; scare the shit out of our remaining enemies, have our soldiers back with their families where they belong, and leave Afghanistan to the Afghans.

The Case For the Use of Nukes in Afghanistan

Kim Jong - Il: The Personality When a Second Born Is Elevated to the First Born Position

Kim Jong -il has been the dictatorial leader of North Korea since 1994 after the death of his father Kim Il -sung. His relationship with the West has been strained at best. His country's economy is in shambles and he has been putting his resources into nuclear weapon investigate and seems to defy all attempts to get him to fall into line. Could his birth order have something to do with his personality?

Korean Names And Culture
Before we look at Kim Jong -il it might be best to take a brief look at the principles used for Korean names. A Korean name consists of a family name followed by a given name. There are only 250 Korean family names currently in use. The most coarse are Kim, Lee, and Park. There is also a generational name syllable shared by all siblings and all members of the same generation. Married men and women ordinarily keep their full personal names, and children inherit the father's family name. A name can also denote their clan and city of origin.

Nuclear Weapons

Korean Names And Gender
Korean history has a strong foundation of Confucian principles acquired while the Choson Dynasty, 1392. The family structure is patriarchal with the male being superior. Women are not seen as ambitious and have no aspirations. They are referred to as ansalam or "inside person" strictly restricted to domesticity. It is coarse for the wife to keep her family name after marriage but the children must take their father's name.

Kim Elevated to #1 Birth Order
Kim Jong -il was elevated to the estimate one birth order spicy above his older sister by virtue of his gender. The Korean culture puts the emphasis on males so with slight attempt he moved up to estimate one. When this happens many of the second born traits are still in effect. The feeling that he doesn't want to be told what to do is a second born trait. He had to learn to lead and give orders as an elevated first born but it is not a natural instinct. His erratic behavior may just be the two birth orders working, this confuses his observers in the West.

Early Years
Kim is the eldest son of his father Kim Il-sung. His legal biography says he was born February 16, 1942 in a log cabin on Korea's Mount Paektu. Others believe he was born in Russia on February 16, 1941. His older sister is Kim Kyong -jin date of birth unknown. Kim Jong -il's move up may have been easy but he still instinctively showed the need to protect his position from all potential challenges. His younger brother Kim Shura Man -il was two years younger when both were in the family swimming pool. It is said that older brother Kim Jong -il age 6 held his four year old brother under the water just to watch the bubbles come up. This drowning accident took place place in 1947.

Brothers Sisters and Mothers
Kim's birth mother, Jhong-suk the mother of his older sister and younger brother died in 1949. His half brother and half sister Kim Pyong -il and Kim Kyong Hui were born after 1951 to his step mother Kim Song -ae. There was intense sibling rivalry between Kim Jong -il and his younger half brother who was at least nine years younger. The disagreement between them got so bad that when Kim Pyong -il got older he was sent to a distant embassy to keep them apart. mother #1 Kin Kyong - jin oldest sister Jhong -suk #2 Kim Jong -il 2-16-42 or 41 Jhong -suk #3 Kim "Shura" Man -il 1943 or 44 Jhoug -suk #4/1 Kim Pyong -il 1951 brother Kim Song -ae #5/2 Kim Kyong Hui? sister Kim Song -ae

Kim's Children and Their Mothers
Kim has been married only once to Kim Young -suk with whom he had a daughter, Kim Sul -song in 1974. He has had a series of mistresses and children. The following list should help in comprehension his family. Mother/Wife/Mistress #1 Kim Jong Nam 1971 son Song Hae-Rim mistress #2 Kim Sul -Song 1974 daughter Kim Young -Suk wife 10yrs later #3/1 Kim Jong -chul 1981 son Ko Young -hee mistress #4/2 Kim Jong -un 1983 son Ko Young -hee mistress No Children Kim Ok mistress

Who will be the Successor to Kim?
If birth order is any indicator then the successor would be Kim Jong -un who has a duplicate birth order of #4/2 He is the only one that shares his fathers birth order of a second born even through he also carries the 4th birth order as well. His oldest son Kim Jong Nam was arrested in 2001 on a forged passport and is now out of favor with his father. Kim Jong -il's older sister is married to Chang Sung -taek who may challenge Kim Jong -un for the leadership role in North Korea.

Nuclear Weapons In 1994 and again in 2000
North Korea entered into agreements with the United States to ice and dismantle its nuclear weapons agenda in change for aid in helping Korea get nuclear generators. In 2002 Kim Jong -il admitted to having produced nuclear weapons since 1994 but said they did so for security purposes. On October 6, 2006 they conducted their first private nuclear test.

North Korean Army
North Korea has the largest soldiery relative to the size of the country in the world. It has the fourth largest standing army and with this power Kim has done slight or nothing to relax his operate on all aspects of the economy.

Crazy or is it His two Birth Orders?
Psychological evaluations close that Kim Jong -il is fearless in the face of sanctions and punishment. All these are second born traits. This makes negotiations with him extraordinarily difficult. Because of the cultural gender biases' working with three dissimilar female Us Secretary's of State has been exasperating. His birth order won't let you get a good look inside his country or his life. Trying to act like a estimate one birth order but behaving like a second born only adds to the confusion.

We Hear About Nuclear Threats From Terrorists - What About Bio Weapons in Their Hands?

It seems the International News Media has us all up in a tizzy over the possible eventuality of nuclear weapons in the hands of international terrorist groups. Interestingly enough, they don't de facto need a such a weapon to terrorize, they only have to pretend to have one or make us believe that they might. And the way it stands now, they very well could have already gotten their hands on a nuclear weapon for all we know. Yes, I read Tom Clancy, and the other writers in that spy suspense venue, but the reality is it could so de facto happen.

And perceive it isn't just nuclear weapons we must be prepared for, what about Cyber Terrorism, or worst of all Bio-Terrorism where a terrorist group unleashed a bio-weapon that kills millions before it is stopped and antidotes or vaccines are brought into the play. It could happen tomorrow, very easily. You see, we still have not found all the bio-weapon scientists from the old Soviet Russia, they did go to the top bidder, they scattered, same with all their other scientists.

Nuclear Weapons

We have so many possible threats to worry about, such as North Korea and Iran with their nuclear weapons program. Meanwhile, Russia and China have armed Iran with all sorts of stuff, some of it is Us technology stolen, some is even Israeli technology coming back to haunt them, and Israel is still selling weapon systems to Russia and China. Uavs to Russia for instance in trade for Russia discontinuing its sale of S300 missiles to Iran, no question Iran will buy the stuff from China.

Every time the Us makes an enemy or says no to a regime that is "human possession challenged" China runs over to make a new friend, builds a new port, agrees to a trade deal, and buys their resources. This is a losing game. We cannot keep peace in the World, with such reckless disregard, as China, Russia and their new found client nations are busy picking teams and gearing up for a stand-off of epic proportions or Wwiii. Worse, many countries rather enjoy the use of terrorist groups to serve their political will, and keep the Usa off her game.

The question is that soft-targets or civilian populations hang by a thread in the balance, and this isn't funny anymore. Nuclear, Bio-weapons, Cyber attack - sufficient of these terrorist organizations and the nation-states such as Iran which fund them, namely Hamas and Hezbollah for instance; and the reports still unconfirmed of North Korea sending nuclear material to Syria and the association through that country. It's a scary world we live in.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki - Turning Points on the Timeline for World War 2

The timeline of World War 2 will show that on 6 August 1945 "Little Boy" was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Just three days later "Fat Man" was dropped on Nagasaki, other Japanese city. It is foremost to know that "Little Man" and "Fat Man" were both nuclear weapons and are, to this date, the only ones ever used in the history of warfare. These bombs killed more than 140,000 citizen in Hiroshima and about 80,000 in Nagasaki. This number does not consist of the thousands more killed due to complications connected with inordinate radiation exposure. The bombings of the Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki marked the beginning of the end of Japanese involvement on the timeline of World War 2.

The atomic bombs were designed and built by the United States with assistance from the United Kingdom and Canada. This project was what is now known as the Manhattan project and led by J. Robert Oppenheimer, an American physicist. Before either bomb was dropped over Japan it was tested at Trinity Site near Alamogordo, New Mexico in July of 1945. It is inviting to know that the team was unsure if the bombs would even work properly, however the bombs were a success and ready for action over Japan. The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, near the end of the timeline of World War 2, were extremely bloody and gruesome attacks. They are seen straight through history as some of the worst results of bombings and warfare in human history. Now, nuclear weapons are avoided at all costs.

Radioactive Nuclear Waste Buried Inside Yucca Mountain May Chill Nevada's economy

You might wonder why the mayor of Las Vegas sued President Bush. Simply put, it had to do with neutrons.

Then-Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham, with the backing of President Bush, ended 20 years of research on how to arrange of the nation's 70,000 tons of nuclear waste by deciding it will be buried deep within the Yucca Mountains of Nevada, 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas. Some population now refer to the site as Yuck-a Mountain.

Nuclear Reactor

If Washington's plans are realized, Yucca Mountain will come to be a geological tomb for radioactive waste from the nation's 131 temporary warehouse sites, most of which sit next to the nuclear power plants that gave birth to them. In addition, all the radioactive materials from the U.S. Nuclear weapons and nuclear submarine programs will also be sent to Nevada.

The Bush supervision had promised to help Russia arrange of its nuclear wastes in an exertion to keep terrorists from obtaining raw materials that could be used to originate nuclear devices for mass destruction. Yucca Mountain, then, may be slated to come to be an international, radioactive-waste dumpster.

Advocates say the plan is safe, due primarily to the carport geology that characterizes the Yucca Mountains. In addition, proponents argue that it will be far great to have all radioactive materials at one central location than to have it spread nearby the country in 39 states, as it is now. Radioactive wastes would probably be immobilized by forming them into some type of glass or ceramic material, then sealed in corrosive-resistant packaging before being stored deep within the bowels of the Nevada mountains.

Many environmentalists have argued that the heat generated by years of continuous radioactive decay may ultimately cause box failures, with subsequent contamination of Nevada's hidden water supplies and geology.

The problem with nuclear energy lies roughly entirely with its by-products, which are themselves radioactive. Typically, the process starts with uranium atoms designated as uranium-235 (235U), which have an atomic mass of 235 amu (atomic mass units). The uranium atoms (held within the fuel rods of a nuclear reactor) are split by a source of slow involving particles called neutrons (designated as 1n) having a mass of 1 amu. One of the results of splitting uranium atoms is the formation of atoms of lower mass. One typical reaction pattern is:

1n + 235U = 142Ba + 91Kr + 3 1n + energy

In this fission reaction, just one of many that unmistakably occur, a neutron collides with a uranium atom, splitting it into a barium atom (142Ba) and a krypton atom (91Kr). Consideration that three added neutrons are created, along with the release of energy. If there is more than just one uranium atom in the sample, the added neutrons created by the traditional splitting will impact more uranium atoms, releasing more neutrons and more energy. In this way, the chain-reaction continues to escalate. If the reaction goes unchecked, and there is sufficient uranium present initially, a nuclear explosion will result.

In a nuclear reactor designed to yield electricity, the chain reaction is controlled such that it does not escalate out of control, but instead produces a steady stream of energy. Unfortunately, as the uranium in the reactor's fuel rods becomes contaminated with fission products like the barium and krypton atoms shown in the above reaction, neutrons begin colliding with them instead of the uranium, manufacture the process less and less efficient with time. As a result, the fuel rods have to be supplanted periodically with new ones that are not contaminated with fission products. Spent fuel rods still comprise some division of unreacted uranium-235 together with the fission products, all of which are radioactive. These spent fuel rods are stored underwater in pools nearby the reactors from where they came, constituting the majority of the nations "nuclear waste" that the Bush supervision has decided to bury in Nevada.

How long will it take for these materials to come to be safe again? The half-life is defined as the estimate of time required for half of the atoms in a radioactive sample to decay. Unreacted uranium-235 (in the discarded fuel rods) has a half-life of 710 million years! Fission by-products such as strontium-90 are more prevalent in spent fuel rods than uranium-235. Although the half-life of strontium-90 is only 29 years, it takes 20 half-life cycles, or 600 years, before such material is safe to biological systems such as human beings.

Perhaps now we can understand why Mayor Oscar Goodman of Las Vegas, along with most of Nevada's politicians, was ready to do battle with Washington. Aside from the possibility of lost income derived from having the nation's nuclear waste repository in their state, they fear that if radioactive materials leaking from packaging inside Yucca Mountain contaminate the state's groundwater, they would be saying good-bye to their casinos and their livelihoods, not to mention their citizens.

Radioactive Nuclear Waste Buried Inside Yucca Mountain May Chill Nevada's economy

Iran's Nuclear Blackmail

Although not particularly superstitious by nature, I have come to the realization that kissing, in the world of politics, is a foretelling sign of ominous things to come.

For instance, think at what happened after Vyacheslav Molotov (1890 - 1986) and Joachim von Ribbentrop (1893 - 1946) kissed in the wake of the Nazi-Soviet Non Aggression Pact of 1939. How about when Leonid Brezhnev (1906 - 1982) kissed Mao Tse-tung (1893 - 1976) a few months before the international incident on the Ussuri River in 1969, which signed the end of the 'intellectual' alliance in the middle of Soviet Russia and Red China, and that practically catapulted the world into Wwiii. Or even the predominant kiss in the middle of Mikhail Gorbachev (1931) and Ronald Reagan (1911 - 2004) in 1988, right before the collapse of the Soviet Union, although this could hardly be described as a foreboding sign of omen - unless, of course, one is a Bolshevik communist.

Nuclear Weapons

And why is it that only male politicians kiss, and never female politicians, is yet another strangeness of life. No one ever dared kissing the Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher of Britain, or Madeleine Albright. And when the gift Us Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice - herself otherwise a very kissable lady - trots nearby the globe, all foreign dignitaries are kept a safe distance away, just in case. This is the suspect why I personally would fire all the male politicians and reserve replacing them only with females: at least if they kiss, the ladies would have the decency not to show me on Tv - but I digress.

So therefore, if history teaches whatever at all, what are we to make of the newest quasi-amorous engagement and great effort of getting a taste of each other of Hugo Chávez of Venezuela and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran? Seen from the cameraman's angle, that was not just a kiss. Those two went very close to a lip-to-lip encounter of the third kind, something to make a Frenchman green with envy. All of which makes any prediction of time to come events even more ominous.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a civil engineer by profession and the Sixth President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is a confirmed believer in the arrival apocalypse. Like Judaism and Christianity, Shiite Islam has its own version of the messianic return - the reappearance of the Twelfth Imam. And as in some versions of fundamentalist Christianity, the second arrival will be accompanied by the usual trials and tribulations, death and destruction. The Iranian press, in fact, has quoted Ahmadinejad as saying in legal meetings that the Imam will reappear in two years. Exactly two years.

Couple this with his intention to press ahead with Iran's nuclear program, the staunch anti-Israel rhetoric, and his repeated calls for Israel "to be wiped off the map" and it becomes very easy to anticipate where Iran's nuclear weapons will be aimed at, once they are up and armed. As a matter of fact, everybody knows already that they will be put on Shahab rockets, which have been modified so that they can reach Israel.

So, what do we have here? A Holocaust-denying, virulently anti-Semitic, aspiring genocidist and certifiable lunatic on the verge of acquiring weapons of the apocalypse, who believes that the end is not only near, but nearer than the next American presidential election. Who likes to entertain Hugo Chávez of Venezuela, another certifiable lunatic, whose mainstream political ideology consists in the communal announcement that Jesus of Nazareth was a radical activist, who purportedly emphasized and sought redistributive communal justice and democratic socialism.

Sure, this may very well be a valid theory, but there are a few things that just do not balance out.

First and foremost, on closer scrutiny, a nuclear strike on Israel - assuming for a moment that Israel would allow that to happen with impunity - would cause just as many Muslim casualties as Jewish, if not more. Not only all the Palestinians would be wiped out, but also a great many Syrians, Lebanese, Jordanians and Egyptians would suffer the same faith. Secondly, a retaliatory strike from the United States and Western Europe would put an end to the existence of contemporary Persia, as we know it. Thirdly, what's the point therefore in attacking Israel if, afterwards, your days - your hours, in fact, are numbered. And fourth, Islam would break apart and collapse, both in its communal and economic structures, as well as a form of human civilization.

Surely it would not please Allah to see all these many followers perish in vain, in replacement for a comparatively handful of Jewish lives. Talk about omen!

Yet, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chávez have two other things in common, besides being strange. They are both price hawks within Opec, having pushed for stringent obligation of output quotas and higher target oil prices. And they both need petrodollars - and lots of them - to finance their otherwise faltering economies and great ambitions.

Chávez has long since learned, that any time he announces his purportedly ultimate goal of cutting oil supply to the United States entirely (he has announced it publicly a few times already), the international markets get the jitters and react by sending the price of crude up to the sky, if but for a short time. And Ahmadinejad is now beginning to discover, that he can do the same - better, in fact - by sticking to his program of uranium enrichment in open defiance of the wish and will of the United Nations. It is, in fact, the news of the day that oil teetered above a barrel, a near description high, as mounting tension over Iran's nuclear plan compounded worries of global supply disruptions amid forecast of falling fuel stocks in the United States. Prices were within striking distance of their all-time peak of .35 a barrel on April 24.

All this after Iran merely reported, that it has succeeded in purifying uranium to 4.8 percent, at the top end of the 3 to 5 percent range used in nuclear power plants. So, can whatever dream where price of crude will go, once Iran gets its nukes and threatens to drop them on Israel every other day?

Ah, these Mullahs! The more I watch them on Tv, the more I think they need a shave. How could whatever maybe would ever want to kiss them?

The Brief summary of the High temperature Bearing

Generally speaking, the bearing whose working climatic characteristic is above 150 degrees Celsius is called high climatic characteristic bearing. Agreeing to distinct needs and working conditions, there are a lot of these bearings. From the perspective of the structures, the bearing can be separated into the base structure type and the special structure type. The base structure type in general refers to the bearing, made by the elevated climatic characteristic material, which is manufactured in light of the base bearing's structure. The high climatic characteristic deep grove ball bearing is a good example. As for the special structure type, it not only adopts the high climatic characteristic material but also realizes the automatic clearance payment in the high climatic characteristic environment, such as coil spring bearing.

According to some connected researches, the working climatic characteristic of a bearing has a close association with its manufacturing material. When the chromium bearing steel is in doing in the health with above 150 degrees Celsius, its hardness will be reduced rapidly and meanwhile its size will not be stable. Thus it cannot work normally. Therefore, as for the bearing whose working climatic characteristic is between 150 degrees Celsius and 250 degrees Celsius, the bearing made of the material chromium bearing steel should be treated by the tempering. Or else, this bearing is not suitable to work under this temperature. However, this bearing treated by the tempering is not perfect, because the tempering medicine can cut the hardness.

Nuclear Reactor

In other word, the assistance of the bearing will be reduced. When the bearing works in the health with above 250 degrees Celsius, the high climatic characteristic bearing steel should be used.Besides for the properties of the base bearing steel, this bearing steel should be featured by the elevated climatic characteristic hardness, elevated climatic characteristic wearing resistance, elevated climatic characteristic dent resistance, antioxygenic property, stability of the size and so on.

There are any high climatic characteristic bearing steel. Under the elevated temperature, the high climatic characteristic bearing steel can form insoluble carbides and at the same time can isolate out these carbides. Through the two times' hardening effect, this kind of bearing steel still has the relative high hardness, resistance to wear, fatigue durability, reliability and so on. On the basis of these unique features of this bearing steel, the high climatic characteristic bearing inherits the above-mentioned characteristics. Therefore, it is quite suitable for the high climatic characteristic environment.

Owing to so many unique features, this bearing is widely used in a lot of fields. For example, some are applied in the gas turbine, nuclear reactor systems and jet engine. Others are used in the rocket, space ship and hypersonic vehicle.

Nuclear energy is based on the same principles as former fossil fuel energy. Heat is produced and water added to the system. When the water boils, the steam moves a generator and electricity is collected. In order for nuclear fission, the process used to generate heat, to happen a fuel base needs to be used. Here are 5 of the more tasteless fuels.
Uranium Dioxide - uranyl nitrate reacted with ammonia. Mixed Oxide - plutonium and uranium. Triga (training, research, isotopes, general atomics) - uranium and zirconium. Actinide - zirconium, uranium and plutonium. Ceramic - uranium nitride and uranium carbide.
Creating the Nuclear Fuel Rods

Once the fuel type is selected, the chemical must go straight through a series of changes before it can be stacked inside of a rod and placed in the nuclear reactor. Most often, the fuel is processed into a pellet. The pellets are heated (or fired) and hard pellets result. These pellets are ground down to uniform sizes before then are carefully placed inside of a zirconium alloy rod. The rods are then moved to the reactor where they are placed in bundles based on carefully spaced plans.

Nuclear Power

When the rods are complete, they are given identification numbers. This allows the plant to keep track of each rod as it moves straight through the power production process to waste control. True monitoring is needed due to the radioactive nature of the base fuel.

Creating energy via nuclear fission creates quite a few byproducts. Some of these are reprocessed to make additional energy while others are stored on waste sites. The most predominant site for storing nuclear waste is placed in Nevada, Usa.

Operation Wigwam - Underwater Nuclear Test Film (1955)

Operation Wigwam - Underwater Nuclear Test Film (1955) Video Clips. Duration : 37.05 Mins.

Courtesy: US Department of Energy 0800018 - Operation Wigwam, Commander's Report - 1955 - 35:45 - Color - The US Navy, envisioning a war in which atomic depth charges would be used, wanted to learn how much of a nuclear blast a well-built submarine could take. The submarine Skate had not withstood the BAKER explosion of Operation Crossroads. At a location listed as "N 29 degrees, W 126 degrees," about 500 miles southwest of San Diego, a deep underwater, weapons effects nuclear test, WIGWAM, rumbled through the ocean. A model submarine experiment submerged beneath a floating barge vanished after the 30-kiloton burst of power from Operation Wigwam on May 14, 1955. A combination of high winds and rough seas prevented recovery of much of the test data. Approximately 6500 personnel took part in this operation. B-7 (Mk-90) Betty

Iran and the Nuclear Bomb - A Strategy For Success

For over two years, there has been an addition presumption that the United states is planning to take forces performance against Iran if the latter does not stop enriching uranium and other linked activities. The issue has been developing a serious concern among experts, scholars, commentators and notion writers evidenced by many publications in the media, books, and a collection of programs in television and other electronic media. The consequences of such performance is so dire and horrific to the U.S. And world cheaper and public life and protection that requires a serious and informed public attention.

Culturally, historically and politically Iranians are quite dissimilar from the peoples in the rest of the countries of the Middle East. Iran, meaning the land of Arians, has over 5000 years of history and at times it has been the most and most developed empire in the world. Under pressure for centuries for dominance by nearly all foremost colonial powers such as Great Britain, Russia, France, Germany and, since Wwii, the United States, Iranians have developed a remarkable sophistication in international affairs, which has been the incommunicable of their survival as an independent nation in the region not for centuries but millennia.. From the viewpoint of informed scholars and experts, United States, is no match for Iran. It can destroy Iranian cities and means of livelihood but it cannot conquer its over 70 million people, 60 percent of which were born after the 1979 Revolution.

Nuclear Weapons

The Iranian government, with a unified withhold of its habitancy knows what it is doing and what it needs to do to withhold its sovereignty, dignity and national security.. Its gift foreign policy, beside establishing friendly relations with all its neighbors, has two main defensive and protective components.

First, realistically speaking, Iran desires to possess nuclear capability, but purely for establishing a equilibrium of power in the region, particularly against Israel, and only for defensive and protective purposes. If the United States is adamantly against Iran becoming a nuclear power, it is generally because the potential danger it creates to Israel. Iran has no capacity to be a nuclear threat to the United states since it lacks the permissible delivery system.

Second, Iran is not afraid of the United States and its intention of preemptive strikes. Because, it has a weapon against U.S. Far more destructive and effective than a nuclear bomb. That is the Middle East oil, the life blood of the Us economy. Not the Iranian oil but other oil resources in the region where oil is exported to the United States. If Iran is attacked by Us or Israel as a Us proxy, Iran may resolve to destroy the region's largest oil refinery in Saudi Arabia, which provides for 10 percent of the world's refined oil. Iran is well capable of doing this by hitting Saudi installations by a few of its definite Shahab missiles with permissible explosive heads. This may be carefully a preemptive charge on an additional one nation, but Iran may explain it as a counter-strike on American foreign resources, essential for its own defense. Iran may claim that there is more cause for performance here than the Us preemptive charge on Iraq where no danger was facing the United states.

Iran has already expressed its intention of such actions against the American interests in the region if Iran is attacked. The Iranian supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei has recently expressed that "Iran would sass to American aggression by striking at the United States anywhere in the world."(1) In fact, Iran has already plans for such performance as clearly stated by a senior source in the Iranian Army "That Iran has a plan, in the event of American forces action, to stage suicide and rocket attacks not only against Israel or America in Iraq, but also against Arab countries allied to America."(2)

Such an charge on oil refineries in Saudi Arabia, for example, will have a devastating impact on the Us cheaper as well as those of the European countries who withhold the Us procedure against Iran. It is estimated that restoration of the refinery to its old capacity will take at least seven months. As a ensue of this one performance alone, the price of gas per gallon is estimated to rise to above .00 in Us and ,00 in Europe.

Iran will not be worried about retaliation by Us or any other country since it will hold the power to destroy or substantially damage all other oil installations in the region which export oil to the United states, except those of Iraq, causing a global economic disaster.

Meanwhile, Iran will advantage from bombing the Saudi refinery because it will cause a tremendous rise in oil prices of which Iran exports around 2.5 million barrels a day. No country will try to destroy Iranian oil installations since such performance will further deteriorate the world economic situation.

There would be a mistake to think that Iran will not dare to charge Saudi refineries or other oil installations in the region which export oil to the United States. U.S. Invaded Iraq with much less cause. It was not pushed against the wall, in fact, there was no danger advent to Us from Iraq. Iran will have a far more justifiable cause to destroy the economic resources of the United States within its reach.

It is not difficult to visualize such consequences from any performance against Iran. With all these assuredly potential scenarios, a wise decision for the West may seem to let Iran alone in its atomic energy endeavors in accordance with the Nonproliferation Treaty which allows member countries to do explore and discoveries in the atomic energy field.

As stated in The Nation Magazine "American forces are highly vulnerable to Iranian-sponsored guerrilla warfare in Iraq and Afghanistan. assuredly Iran has good reason to believe it could prevail in an extended friction by encouraging Shiite attacks on U.S. forces and by driving up oil prices to well over 0 a barrel by threatening shipping and oil facilities in the Persian Gulf. It makes no sense for the administration to threaten Iran when we're so vulnerable to Iranian retaliation."(3)

It should be also carefully that, as the taste has shown, the nations carefully to possess nuclear weapons such as India, Israel, North Korea and Pakistan, have finally succeeded despite of all restrictions imposed on them. Particularly, attention must be paid to the fact that Iran, as shown above, has a better, much cheaper and more effective weapon against the United States and the rest of the world. It does not need nuclear weapon for obnoxious purposes. Any endeavor to charge Iran would have disastrous ensue on the world economy, public life, protection as well as stability.
