Look After Your Planet

It seems that nearly every day we hear something about Global Warming. Australia's drought is now the worst in our history. Intense storm cells lashing parts of South East Queensland, frequent category 4 and 5 tropical storms worldwide, fierce bushfires, melting glaziers, flooding, the list goes on. With the ever increasing threat of global warming, we need to know how we can look after the planet as it is the only one we have. If we don't make changes now, what hope will our young children have for their hereafter on this planet?
Electricity causes 35 per cent of Australia's greenhouse pollution which makes it the biggest particular source of Australia's greenhouse pollution.

Here are a few tips on what we can do to help cool our planet.

Nuclear Weapons

o Switch off the Tv, Vcr, microwave and stereo at the power point instead of leaving them in stand-by power mode.

o Purchase appliances with the top vigor Star rating.

o Run air-conditioning units only when needed and adjust the climatic characteristic operate to 25 degrees.

o Defrost the freezer normally and set the climatic characteristic to -18°C.

o Only use your dishwasher when it is full.

o Consider solar lighting for your porch and garden. Attractive solar orchad lights are now available in cheap kits.

o Dry washing on a clothesline. Your clothes will smell fresh, look best and wear longer.

o Replace light bulbs with compact fluorescents. They supply just as much light and they use 75 per cent less power.

o Install movement sensors in outdoor areas, they supply security while salvage money and energy.

o Turn off your hot water system when you go on holidays.

o Switch off the light when you leave the room.

Greenpeace believes the qoute that we face is that the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas) for energy, which is changing the climate. The fossil fuel manufactures is resisting change, funneling millions of dollars into advertising and campaigns to oppose global warming solutions.
What's worse, our governments are listening to them!

Climate turn is caused by human activity; it is the warming of our planet. It's the worst environmental and economic qoute we face today. Most scientists and governments around the world now agree that atmosphere turn will damage or destroy many natural ecosystems and human communities.

Our atmosphere is made up of a balanced blanket of gases. The gas blanket traps in the earth's heat and sustains life on earth. This is known as the greenhouse effect. Market activities generate more greenhouse gases, disrupting the natural balance and increasing greenhouse warming.
It's like we're putting a thicker blanket over the planet, causing it to overheat.

Our greenhouse gas pollution comes from burning coal and gas to make energy. Deforestation also releases large amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. After that, changes in our atmosphere may become rapid, unpredictable and irreversible.

Coal provides nearly 90 per cent of Australia's electricity and is also destroying the environment. Coal use also causes principal condition problems. Studies around the world show worrying incidences of asthma, lung diseases and cancers. We must stop our use of coal powered electricity! Clean, renewable vigor is the explication to atmosphere turn and to a best planet.

Just as we rely on coal in Australia, we feed other countries in our region. We export about three times as much coal as we currently use. The Newcastle port has more coal leaving from there every day than our whole country uses.

The world relies on crude oil and it's running out!
The world's transportation and Market industries rely heavily on oil. Unfortunately, in modern years, we've been appealing much more oil than we've been discovering. Some scientists are suggesting that the Earth may have reached its peak oil.

"Peak oil" is the point at which we consume more petroleum per year than we produce, and when peak oil happens worldwide, it will no longer be worth the time or money it takes to find new oil reserves. Some citizen believe there will be a war as the supervene of a battle to gain operate over the world's last oil reserves. Saudi Arabia possesses both the world's largest oil reserves and produces the largest whole of the world's oil. The Middle East has about 50 per cent of the known remaining world oil reserves.

The truth is, peak oil could influence you more than you realize. The mean Australian consumes six and a half litres of oil every day, three quarters of that is being used for transportation.
Australia passed peak oil as a nation in 2000, and now imports 30% of all its oil. By 2010, it's estimated that that outline will be closer to 50%.

It's hard to say exactly what will happen once peak oil hits across the globe. Some scientists say that it will be the end of civilization as we know it, while others claim there will certainly be no inequity at all due to modern advances in vigor technology.

No one can say exactly when the world's peak oil will occur, estimates say sometime around 2015. The United States vigor facts management believes the world supply of oil shale to be 2.6 trillion barrels of usable oil--that's roughly 66 years worth of fuel at current consumption rates.

The qoute is, by relying on oil shale and other such sources of petroleum, we're merely delaying the problem. If we don't explore other types of energy, we'll have the same qoute we do now in half a century. Although we can stretch our supply for a while longer, we will at last run out of oil.

There are currently efforts underway to cut or eliminate oil consumption. Auto associates are developing hybrid cars that run partly off rechargeable batteries, and a new fuel called "biodiesel"
Individual actions make a difference, too. Try cutting down on petrol consumption by using communal transportation or carpooling with friends and coworkers. When possible, ride a bike or walk to your destination--you'll be holding the planet and the cheaper wholesome and also yourself too!

Nuclear Australia

Australia is the owner of the world's largest uranium reserves. Most of the vigor in Australia is supplied by burning coal or petrol. Currently, 78 per cent of Australia's water is boiled by coal. Coal, is a fossil fuel and creates greenhouse emissions. Nuclear vigor is a way to boil water without producing greenhouse emissions.

All of the uranium mined in Australia is exported. Every country that buys uranium from Australia must sign an business agreement that the uranium will be used only for peaceful purposes (like generating energy).

Why aren't we using our own uranium?

A great deliberate upon has recently opened up in Parliament on Australia's nuclear policy. John Howard has recommend an inquiry into Australia's vigor uses, including the proposal of going nuclear.
Those who are for a nuclear Australia argue that the introduction of nuclear vigor is cleaner. It could perhaps cut greenhouse gas emissions and help the environment. Nuclear vigor could also supply a cheaper explication to rising petrol prices and could generate jobs for thousands of people.

Scientists say that only five per cent of emissions would be cut by 2050, which is well below the target whole that has been set to cut atmosphere change. The opposition doesn't forget the nuclear disaster of the Chernobyl power plant meltdown in 1986. They argue that such a disaster could happen again. Others worry that if Australia goes nuclear, our uranium supply could run out in less than 60 years.
Personally I am against the idea of Nuclear Power in Australia. It has some benefits but the allinclusive risk of a nuclear disaster and the possibility of it falling into the wrong hands to make nuclear weapons are too much of a risk. There must be a best and safer solution.

The Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster on April 25th -26th 1986 is the world's worst nuclear power accident. It occurred at Chernobyl in the old Ussr now know as Ukraine. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant was settled 80 miles north of Kiev. It had 4 reactors and whilst testing reactor whole 4 numerous security procedures were disregarded. At 1:23am a chain reaction in the reactor became out of operate creating explosions and a fireball which blew off the reactor's heavy steel and concrete lid.

The Chernobyl urgency killed more than 30 citizen immediately, and as a supervene of the high radiation levels in the surrounding 20-mile radius, 135,000 citizen had to be evacuated.

Health Effects from the Chernobyl Disaster-

The five years (1981-1986) before the accident, the mean thyroid cancer rate in young children aged in the middle of birth and 15 years old was 4-6 incidents per million. The incidents rose from 4-6 per million to 45 incidents per million in the middle of 1986 and 1997.

There have also been reports of increases of definite cancers in unavoidable populations living in contaminated areas and among those who helped with the cleanup of the accident.

30 lives were lost during the urgency or within a few months after it. Figures from the Ukraine Radiological create propose that over 2,500 deaths were caused by the Chernobyl disaster.

Psychological Consequences-

There have been principal increases in psychological condition disorders and incidence such as:

o Anxiety

o Depression

o Helplessness and despair important to, communal seclusion and loss of hope for the future.

o Other disorders attributable to mental stress

The stress and trauma of the citizen complicated during the evacuation and their concerns about their children's condition came from the supervene of the lack of communal facts available after the accident. There is much understandable skepticism over official statements as citizen were not told the truth until any years after the accident.

Following the urgency 116,000 citizen had to be evacuated and in the middle of 1990 and 1995 an added 210,000 citizen were resettled. A new town was named for the personnel of the Chernobyl power plant.
Villages had to be decontaminated and major work had to be carried out on infrastructure of water and gas. The closure of Reactor 4 and the "freeze" on construction of new reactors reduced the availability of electricity supplies.

Demographic indications in 'contaminated' areas propose that these areas are experiencing a decline in birth rate. The work force has moved to uncontaminated areas resulting in a shortage of labour and pro staff.

The affected areas suffered major disruption to normal life and economic action in agriculture and forestry production.

After the Chernobyl urgency radioactive material was widely dispersed and was measured over a vast area. The effects have been felt over the whole of the northern hemisphere.
In some local ecosystems within a 10 km radius of the reactor lethal doses were reached particularly with trees and small mammals. However in 1989 the natural environment of these ecosystems began to recover but there is still the possibility of long term genetic effects.

With today's ongoing risk of terrorist attacks worldwide and the growing threat of an attack in Australia, it seems going nuclear could be a disaster waiting to happen. Nuclear power does have its advantages but in an unstable world as we live in today I'm not sure it is a good idea. However we need to do something now to help fight the growing concerns of global warming and atmosphere change. Our children deserve the proprietary for us to find a explication so they can live in garage and safe environment in the future.

Do You Believe in the Powers of Planet Alignments?

Many citizen believe that during times of planet alignment magical things can happen. Others say no way; that is utter hokum. Perhaps you have an thought on this subject? Can Planet alignment affect the Earth and the Earth's path?

Now then with regard to planet alignment, positively the planets are very far apart and thus somewhat insignificant. Any way many nearby planets all aligned could ever so slightly turn the resonance of the normality of Earth and ever so slightly move the all the planets a slight off their exact (atomic clock amounts in micro seconds stuff) path.

Nuclear Power

Insignificant yes. But mankind does not have sufficient power to do that yet? Well unless he can put a large yield nuclear weapon on a fault line and trigger something like the Sumatra Earthquake nearly cracking a tectonic plate. Something to think on.

Additionally Eclipses are primary because they will contribute for slight changes of Earth's resonance. Some say that in fact human beings seem to pick up these things, even Full Moons as they seem to have an innate antique hunting need during those times which comes out. Any policeman will tell you that they have primary troubles and lots of arrests on full moons, as citizen will do some pretty crazy things.

Could it be a duplicate factor? Resonance changes picked up by the brain, body, bio-rthyms or the full moon triggering mammalian old part of the brain looking the full moon? Yet over cast full moons also have huge arrest rates in large cities, when no one can see the moonlight. Now then does this mean that they can they feel it subconsciously? Lots of questions here and few answers and those are my main thoughts this issue. Reconsider this in 2006.

Flying Wind Generators Power the Planet?

A lot has been said about our wind generators' power over the past few years. Initially view of as the riposte to the worlds energy crisis, we soon realized how many turbines, and the vast whole of space that would easily be needed to power the world.

People are already up in arms about wind turbines ruining scenic landscapes, and environmentalists are worried about birds getting caught up in the blades. But what if there was a solution?  An idea so revolutionary that it is hard to imagine...

Nuclear Power

It appears there is. Time magazine even named it one of the best inventions of 2008. It's called the "Flying galvanic Generator".

So what is it?

The Feg is a type of "rotorcraft" that hovers above the ground and generates power from strong high altitude winds.  But what's spectacular, about it is that it is lifted by the wind. To keep it from flying off, it is tethered to the ground, from which the galvanic current is sent back down to earth.

As the Feg lifts higher, it reaches stronger winds, which enable it to produce more power.   In fact, it has been said that these high altitude winds or jet streams are so strong that using just 1% of them could power the entire planet.

And when will it come to be operational?

So far the only demonstration of an operating Feg was done in Australia, where they used electricity to get it off the ground.  The experiment was very successful, showing that even in light winds close to the ground, the Feg hovered there perfectly.

Next they plan to test a larger rotorcraft at 240kW tethered at up to 15,000ft. And then they will scale up even added to Feg's with four rotors, capable of producing ten to forty megawatts of power - which is far more than the current highest wind turbine capacity of five megawatts.

People have had there doubts about how lightning or turbulence at high altitudes could sway the Feg.  For lightning, a warning theory is in place where the Feg is then simply brought down to earth.  The turbulence is not such a qoute since the rotorcraft acts very much like a kite, and will simply determine back to how it was after a big gust of wind. And a Gps and gyroscope composition will be used to operate its pitch and roll.

So, how much power output is possible?

According to the San Diego based company, Sky WindPower Corporation, an array of 600 Feg's rated at 20Mw, and operating over a ground space of 200 quadrate miles could produce over three times as many megawatt hours per year as the 28,572,902Mwh produced by the Palos Verde Arizona nuclear plant in 2003.

And just 43 of these Feg arrays operating at 85% capacity could produce up to 3,883,185,000Mwh of power - that's the total power consumption of the U.S. In 2003.

And how much will this power cost us?

According to a rigorous study made by Sky WindPower Corp, in the long range the cost of an Feg of ten megawatt capacity would be less than 2 cents per kilowatt hour (including land use costs).  This is less than the energy costs of fossil fuels. But obviously site choice and nearnessy to existing power lines are very foremost factors.

What's next?

Since the Feg's are still in the testing phase, we are not quite sure how long it will take before we see any hovering in the distance. But one thing is for sure is that if all goes to plan, we may see airborne wind generators power the planet.
